INTRODUCTION
The Companion Animal Group (CAG) Dx Business Unit PMO is seeking a Sr. Project Manager to join our team, with a focus on supporting the project management needs of CAG Dx product management teams — including our CAG Dx software products. This is a dynamic, high-impact role for a Project Manager who is experienced and comfortable working alongside Agile software teams, and who can adapt their approach across both structured project work and the broader needs of fast-moving product teams.
You will work across multiple workstreams and initiatives simultaneously, bringing structure, clarity, and a focus on outcomes to everything you touch. You are comfortable working in both project-based and iterative environments, adapting your approach to what each team and initiative needs — whether that’s a defined project plan, a prioritized set of program objectives, or helping a product team drive toward measurable results. You build strong partnerships, manage complexity with confidence, and keep stakeholders aligned and moving forward.
This role is part of a growing CAG Dx BU PMO with a strong delivery track record and an expanding mission, offering real opportunity to develop and grow alongside the team.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
You will drive Delivery Across Projects and Product Team Initiatives
- Lead and manage multiple initiatives or projects, or provide support to multiple cross-functional teams simultaneously — balancing discrete projects with ongoing support for CAG Dx product teams.
- Develop and maintain clear plans, priorities, and outcome definitions across workstreams; keep teams focused on delivering measurable business value, not just completing tasks.
- Manage scope, schedule, risks, dependencies, and change across initiatives; escalate and resolve issues proactively.
- Support CAG Dx product management teams — including software product teams — with the structure, coordination, and execution discipline needed to deliver on their priorities.
- Adapt your approach fluidly — applying formal project management discipline where it adds value, and operating in a more iterative, outcome-focused mode when needed.
You will Engage and Align Stakeholders
- Build strong partnerships across product management, business, IT and R&D delivery teams, and other cross-functional teams; serve as a trusted partner who brings clarity and drives decisions.
- Lead project and program meetings, communications, and reviews — ensuring clear ownership, follow-through, and alignment across stakeholders.
- Anticipate competing priorities and stakeholder needs; manage expectations proactively and navigate ambiguity with confidence.
You will manage Requirements, Scope, and Change
- Coordinate requirements gathering, documentation, and management across the initiative lifecycle.
- Identify, manage, and control scope changes using established change control processes; obtain approvals as required.
- Maintain clear outcome definitions and success metrics across initiatives; track progress against outcomes as well as milestones.
You will contribute to Team and Portfolio Success
- Work across the CAG Dx BU PMO portfolio with flexibility — contributing to reference lab, enterprise, and product team initiatives as capacity and priorities allow.
- Contribute to PMO continuous improvement, sharing insights and identifying opportunities to strengthen how the team delivers.
- Build capability within project teams through coaching, clear communication, and a consistent focus on accountability and outcomes.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

Which companies sponsor visas for project program managers in Maine?
MaineHealth and its affiliated hospital network are among the more active sponsors for program management roles in Maine's healthcare sector. Defense and technology contractors operating near Brunswick and Bath, including those supporting naval and shipbuilding projects, also file H-1B petitions for project managers. State government IT modernization programs occasionally generate sponsorship activity through consulting partners.
Which visa types are most common for project program manager roles in Maine?
The H-1B is the most common visa for project program managers in Maine, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring a bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as business, engineering, or computer science. Canadian citizens may qualify for TN status under the USMCA. Candidates already holding OPT or STEM OPT can use that authorization while pursuing a full H-1B sponsorship.
How to find project program manager visa sponsorship jobs in Maine?
Migrate Mate lists project program manager positions in Maine filtered specifically for visa sponsorship, saving you the effort of screening out employers unlikely to file petitions. You can browse by city or employer type within the platform. Because Maine's market is smaller than coastal tech hubs, filtering by sponsorship history is especially useful for prioritizing outreach to employers with a track record of H-1B filings in the state.
Which cities in Maine have the most project program manager sponsorship jobs?
Portland is Maine's primary employment center for project program managers, driven by its healthcare, financial services, and technology sectors. Augusta sees demand from state government agencies and associated IT consulting firms. Bangor supports program management roles tied to healthcare and regional logistics operations. Bath and Brunswick generate opportunities through defense-adjacent employers, particularly those connected to Bath Iron Works and related contractors.
Are there any state-specific considerations for project program managers pursuing visa sponsorship in Maine?
Maine's smaller employer pool means fewer companies file H-1B petitions annually compared to states with large tech corridors, so verifying an employer's prior sponsorship history before applying is worthwhile. The University of Maine system produces engineering and business graduates that some employers recruit locally, but international candidates with PMP certification or defense sector experience can differentiate themselves. Remote-friendly Portland employers sometimes sponsor candidates who work partially off-site.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored project program manager jobs in Maine?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
