Which companies sponsor visas for accounting associates in Maryland?
Maryland employers with a track record of sponsoring accounting professionals include CohnReznick, Aronson LLC, Leidos, Booz Allen Hamilton, and large healthcare organizations such as Johns Hopkins Health System and University of Maryland Medical System. Federal contractors concentrated in the Montgomery County and Prince George's County corridors regularly file H-1B visa petitions for accounting associates supporting government contracts.
Which visa types are most common for accounting associate roles in Maryland?
The H-1B is the most common visa for accounting associates in Maryland, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring a bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field. Candidates with a CPA track or a degree in finance or business administration are well positioned. Some employers also sponsor TN visas for Canadian and Mexican nationals under the NAFTA/USMCA accountant category.
Which cities in Maryland have the most accounting associate sponsorship jobs?
Baltimore is the largest hub, with sponsorship activity concentrated in public accounting firms, healthcare systems, and financial services. Bethesda and Rockville in Montgomery County follow closely, driven by federal contractors and professional services firms serving the D.C. metro. Annapolis and Columbia also see steady demand, particularly from government-adjacent employers and mid-size regional accounting practices.
How to find accounting associate visa sponsorship jobs in Maryland?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international candidates and filters accounting associate roles in Maryland by visa sponsorship availability, so you are not sorting through listings from employers who do not sponsor. The platform surfaces positions from public accounting firms, federal contractors, and healthcare employers across Baltimore, Bethesda, and the broader D.C. suburbs where sponsorship activity is highest for this role.
Are there state-specific considerations for accounting associates seeking visa sponsorship in Maryland?
Maryland's concentration of federal contractors means many accounting associate roles involve government billing, FAR compliance, or DCAA audit support, which can require security clearance eligibility. Non-U.S. citizens can often obtain lower-level clearances, but it narrows the field. The state also has a strong pipeline from University of Maryland, Towson University, and Loyola University Maryland, so employer familiarity with international student hiring through OPT is relatively high.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored accounting associate jobs in Maryland?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
