Search Service Advisor Jobs in MarylandService Advisor Jobs in Maryland: Frequently Asked Questions
Which companies sponsor visas for service advisors in Maryland?
Large dealership groups operating in Maryland, including Sheehy Auto Stores, Ourisman Automotive, and AutoNation-affiliated locations, are among the more likely sponsors given their scale and HR infrastructure. Manufacturer-owned certified service centers attached to brands like Mercedes-Benz and BMW in the Baltimore and DC suburbs also occasionally sponsor for service advisor positions, particularly when filling specialized roles.
Which visa types are most common for service advisor roles in Maryland?
Service advisor roles typically require customer-facing communication skills and often involve technical knowledge of vehicle systems. The H-1B visa is the most commonly used work visa, though it requires the role to qualify as a specialty occupation, which can be harder to establish for service advisor positions than for engineering or IT roles. Candidates with relevant automotive technology degrees may strengthen a specialty occupation argument.
Which cities in Maryland have the most service advisor sponsorship jobs?
Baltimore is the largest market, with a high concentration of franchise dealerships and independent service centers. The DC suburbs, including Rockville, Silver Spring, and Bethesda in Montgomery County, also have strong dealership density given the high-income consumer base. Annapolis and Bowie round out secondary markets worth targeting, particularly for domestic and import brand dealerships along major commuter corridors.
How to find service advisor visa sponsorship jobs in Maryland?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, so you can search for service advisor roles in Maryland without manually vetting each employer. This is particularly useful in Maryland, where sponsoring employers are spread across Baltimore, Montgomery County, and the DC suburbs. Filtering by role and state on Migrate Mate surfaces active openings from dealership groups and service centers known to work with international candidates.
Are there state-specific considerations for service advisor visa sponsorship in Maryland?
Maryland follows federal prevailing wage requirements for H-1B sponsorship, and employers must file a Labor Condition Application with the Department of Labor before sponsoring. The state's proximity to Washington, DC means some larger dealer groups have dedicated HR teams experienced with sponsorship processes. Maryland does not impose additional state-level requirements beyond federal immigration law, but the competitive DC-area job market means sponsored roles tend to go to candidates with prior dealership or OEM experience.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored service advisor jobs in Maryland?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
