Which companies sponsor visas for clinical technicians in Massachusetts?
Large academic medical systems are the most active sponsors for clinical technician roles in Massachusetts. Mass General Brigham, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, UMass Memorial Health, and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute have histories of H-1B sponsorship for clinical and laboratory positions. Biotech employers like Biogen and Moderna also hire clinical technicians and have sponsored work visas, particularly for specialized laboratory and research-adjacent roles.
Which visa types are most common for clinical technician roles in Massachusetts?
The H-1B is the most common visa for clinical technician roles that require a relevant bachelor's degree in a scientific or technical field, such as clinical laboratory science or biomedical technology. Some roles may also qualify under the TN visa for Canadian and Mexican nationals if the position aligns with covered USMCA occupational categories. The specific visa pathway depends on the role's educational requirements and the employer's petitioning history.
Which cities in Massachusetts have the most clinical technician sponsorship jobs?
Boston is by far the densest market for clinical technician sponsorship jobs in Massachusetts, driven by its cluster of teaching hospitals, research institutions, and life sciences companies in the Longwood Medical Area and Kendall Square. Worcester is a secondary hub, anchored by UMass Memorial Medical Center and UMass Chan Medical School. Springfield and Lowell also have hospital networks that periodically sponsor clinical technician positions.
How to find clinical technician visa sponsorship jobs in Massachusetts?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically for visa sponsorship eligibility, making it easier to identify clinical technician roles in Massachusetts where employers are open to sponsoring international candidates. You can search by role and state to surface positions at academic medical centers, hospital networks, and life sciences employers across Boston, Worcester, and beyond. This is more targeted than general job searches, which rarely surface sponsorship status clearly.
Are there any state-specific considerations for clinical technicians seeking sponsorship in Massachusetts?
Massachusetts requires clinical laboratory technicians to hold a state license issued by the Department of Public Health, in addition to any federal CLIA-related certifications. Employers sponsoring an H-1B for a clinical technician role must also file a Labor Condition Application confirming the offered wage meets the prevailing wage for the occupation and geographic area. The Boston metropolitan area typically carries higher prevailing wage determinations than other parts of the state, which affects what employers must certify.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored clinical technician jobs in Massachusetts?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
