MathWorks is looking for a Cloud Solution Architect to serve as the primary technical point of contact for onboarding commercial and enterprise customers to our Private Cloud offerings. Private Cloud is a dedicated SaaS environment designed to combine the advantages of SaaS with enhanced control, security, and customization, including support for customers’ preferred cloud vendor and integration requirements.
In this role, you will lead technical discovery, translate customer requirements into a secure and scalable solution approach, and guide customers from initial onboarding through successful go-live. You’ll collaborate closely with product, platform, operations, and security stakeholders to deliver a smooth customer experience.
Responsibilities
- Own the technical onboarding journey for Private Cloud customers—from discovery through implementation readiness and go-live.
- Lead technical discovery workshops to understand customer requirements across identity, security, networking, integrations, compliance needs, and operational constraints.
- Create and communicate end-to-end solution designs, including diagrams and written guidance that make complex systems understandable to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Partner with MATLAB and Simulink Application Engineers (AEs) to ensure application-level onboarding is aligned to the target architecture and customer success criteria.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with product management, engineering, security, and operations to unblock onboarding, improve repeatability, and influence roadmap priorities.
- Help scale Private Cloud adoption by building reusable onboarding patterns, reference architectures, and playbooks.
- This role is expected to exercise sound architectural judgment, advise customers on design tradeoffs, and influence internal standards and roadmap decisions based on real-world customer needs.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- A bachelor's degree and 10 years of professional work experience (or equivalent experience) is required.
- Amazon Web Services (AWS)
- Microsoft Azure
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience in cloud architecture and enterprise systems (AWS, Azure, and/or comparable platforms).
- Strong understanding of enterprise security and identity concepts (e.g., SSO, IAM, authentication/authorization patterns), plus networking and system integration fundamentals.
- Demonstrated success in a customer-facing technical role (e.g., Solutions Architect, Technical Program Manager, Implementation Architect, Customer Engineer) leading complex onboarding or adoption projects.
- Ability to translate business goals and technical requirements into practical designs and implementation plans—and communicate tradeoffs clearly.
- Strong cross-team collaboration skills and comfort operating in a fast-moving environment with multiple stakeholders.
- Experience with private cloud / isolated environments, regulated workloads, or compliance-driven deployments.
- Familiarity with Kubernetes ecosystems, infrastructure as code, observability/monitoring, and operational readiness practices.
- Background in platform engineering, developer platforms, CI/CD, or supporting technical computing / engineering workflows.

Which companies sponsor visas for cloud solutions architects in Massachusetts?
Large technology employers with significant Massachusetts footprints, including Amazon Web Services, Microsoft, IBM, Oracle, and Accenture, have consistent records of sponsoring cloud solutions architects. Beyond those, the state's dense concentration of life sciences companies, financial services firms, and enterprise software companies, particularly in the Boston and Cambridge metro, also sponsor cloud architect roles regularly.
Which visa types are most common for cloud solutions architect roles in Massachusetts?
The H-1B is the most commonly used visa for cloud solutions architects in Massachusetts, as the role qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring a degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field. Candidates with extraordinary ability or achievement may qualify for the O-1A. Those transferring from a multinational employer may be eligible for the L-1B for specialized knowledge workers.
Which cities in Massachusetts have the most cloud solutions architect sponsorship jobs?
Boston and Cambridge account for the majority of cloud solutions architect sponsorship activity in Massachusetts, driven by the concentration of technology companies, financial services firms, and research institutions in those areas. Waltham and Burlington along the Route 128 corridor also host major technology employers with active sponsorship hiring. Worcester and Lowell have smaller but growing tech employer presences.
How to find cloud solutions architect visa sponsorship jobs in Massachusetts?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international candidates and filters cloud solutions architect roles in Massachusetts by verified sponsorship history, saving significant time compared to applying broadly. Search by the cloud solutions architect job title and Massachusetts as the location to see employers who have sponsored this role. Reviewing company-level sponsorship history on Migrate Mate helps prioritize applications toward employers with a genuine track record.
Are there any Massachusetts-specific factors that affect visa sponsorship for cloud solutions architects?
Massachusetts employers must meet Department of Labor prevailing wage requirements when filing an H-1B Labor Condition Application, and the Boston metro area is classified in a high-wage tier, which means the required wage floor for cloud solutions architect roles is among the higher thresholds nationally. The state's university pipeline, including MIT, Boston University, and Northeastern, also creates a competitive applicant pool that experienced international candidates are often measured against.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored cloud solutions architect jobs in Massachusetts?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
