Which companies sponsor visas for field service technicians in Massachusetts?
Massachusetts employers with documented H-1B and other work visa sponsorship histories for field service technician roles include Thermo Fisher Scientific, Bruker Corporation, Raytheon Technologies, Waters Corporation, and Cognex. These companies operate service and support operations across the Greater Boston area and Route 128 corridor, where demand for trained equipment technicians in life sciences and defense is consistently high.
Which visa types are most common for field service technician roles in Massachusetts?
The H-1B is the most common sponsorship pathway for field service technicians in Massachusetts when the role qualifies as a specialty occupation, typically requiring a bachelor's degree in engineering or a related technical field. The TN visa is an option for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying engineering categories. The L-1B visa applies when a technician transfers to a Massachusetts office from an overseas employer affiliate.
Which cities in Massachusetts have the most field service technician sponsorship jobs?
Greater Boston, Waltham, Woburn, and Billerica account for a large share of field service technician sponsorship activity in Massachusetts, driven by dense concentrations of medical device, semiconductor equipment, and analytical instrumentation companies along the Route 128 technology corridor. Worcester and Lowell also see activity from manufacturing and defense contractors with regional service operations.
How to find field service technician visa sponsorship jobs in Massachusetts?
Migrate Mate aggregates field service technician roles in Massachusetts that are open to visa sponsorship, filtering out positions where sponsorship is not offered. You can search by state and role type to surface relevant openings from medical device, defense, and scientific equipment employers across Greater Boston and the Route 128 corridor. This saves significant time compared to manually reviewing individual job postings for sponsorship eligibility.
Are there any state-specific considerations for field service technicians seeking visa sponsorship in Massachusetts?
Massachusetts has a high cost of living, which affects the prevailing wage calculations employers must meet when filing an H-1B Labor Condition Application. Employers are required to pay at least the prevailing wage for the role and location as determined by the Department of Labor. The state's concentration of life sciences and defense employers also means many field service roles require security clearance eligibility, which can affect sponsorship timelines and employer willingness to hire internationally.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored field service technician jobs in Massachusetts?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
