Which companies sponsor visas for software consultants in Massachusetts?
Large consulting and technology firms are the most active sponsors for software consultant roles in Massachusetts. Companies like Accenture, Deloitte, Cognizant, Infosys, Tata Consultancy Services, and Wipro have consistent H-1B filing histories in the state. Mid-size software and IT services firms in the Boston and Cambridge area also sponsor regularly, particularly for specialized roles in cloud architecture, enterprise software, and systems integration.
Which visa types are most common for software consultant roles in Massachusetts?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for software consultants in Massachusetts, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field. L-1B visas are also used when consultants transfer from an affiliated foreign office. Candidates from Australia may be eligible for the E-3 visa, and Canadian and Mexican nationals may qualify under the TN visa category.
Which cities in Massachusetts have the most software consultant sponsorship jobs?
Boston and Cambridge account for the largest share of software consultant sponsorship jobs in Massachusetts, anchored by major consulting firms, financial institutions, and technology companies operating out of both cities. Waltham, Burlington, and Woburn along the Route 128 technology corridor are also significant hiring areas. Worcester has a growing presence as well, supported by its university ecosystem and expanding regional tech sector.
How to find software consultant visa sponsorship jobs in Massachusetts?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international candidates searching for visa sponsorship jobs, including software consultant roles in Massachusetts. You can filter by state and job category to see employers who have active sponsorship histories. Because sponsorship willingness varies significantly by company and engagement model, focusing on firms with documented H-1B filing patterns in Massachusetts gives you the most reliable starting point for your search.
Are there any state-specific considerations for software consultants seeking sponsorship in Massachusetts?
Massachusetts has a high concentration of consulting work tied to the financial services, life sciences, and higher education sectors, which shapes the types of software consultant roles available. The state's strong university pipeline, particularly from MIT, Boston University, and Northeastern, means competition for sponsored roles can be significant. Software consultants placed at client sites in Massachusetts must ensure the H-1B Labor Condition Application reflects the correct worksite location and prevailing wage for that area.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored software consultant jobs in Massachusetts?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
