Which companies sponsor visas for technical solutions engineers in Massachusetts?
Major sponsors for technical solutions engineer roles in Massachusetts include HubSpot, Akamai Technologies, Wayfair, MathWorks, Rapid7, and PTC. Larger enterprise software and cloud infrastructure firms in the Greater Boston area have established H-1B visa sponsorship programs and file petitions regularly. Mid-size SaaS companies along the Route 128 corridor also sponsor, though their volume is smaller and varies by hiring cycle.
Which visa types are most common for technical solutions engineer roles in Massachusetts?
The H-1B is the most common visa for technical solutions engineers in Massachusetts, given the role typically requires a bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field, meeting specialty occupation standards. F-1 OPT and STEM OPT extensions are frequently used by candidates early in their careers before H-1B sponsorship. L-1B visas apply when candidates transfer internally from a multinational employer's non-U.S. office.
Which cities in Massachusetts have the most technical solutions engineer sponsorship jobs?
Boston and Cambridge account for the largest share of technical solutions engineer sponsorship jobs in Massachusetts, driven by the concentration of enterprise software, cybersecurity, and SaaS companies. Waltham and Burlington along the Route 128 corridor are also significant hubs, hosting offices for companies like MathWorks, Akamai, and Oracle. Smaller clusters exist in Somerville and Woburn for growth-stage software firms.
How to find technical solutions engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Massachusetts?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it straightforward to search for technical solutions engineer roles in Massachusetts without sorting through positions that don't offer sponsorship. You can narrow results by location to focus on Boston, Cambridge, or the Route 128 corridor. This is particularly useful for identifying mid-size SaaS and enterprise software employers in Massachusetts that sponsor but don't advertise it prominently.
Are there state-specific considerations for technical solutions engineers seeking sponsorship in Massachusetts?
Massachusetts employers sponsoring H-1B workers must meet Department of Labor prevailing wage requirements for technical solutions engineer roles, which are benchmarked to the Boston-Cambridge-Nashua metropolitan area and tend to reflect the region's competitive compensation market. The state's strong university pipeline, particularly from MIT, Northeastern, and Boston University, means employers are accustomed to sponsoring international graduates. Massachusetts also has no state-level restrictions affecting federal visa sponsorship processes.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored technical solutions engineer jobs in Massachusetts?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
