Which companies sponsor visas for accounting associates in Michigan?
Large employers with established immigration programs are your most reliable options. In Michigan, that includes the Big Four accounting firms (Deloitte, PwC, KPMG, EY) with offices in Detroit and Grand Rapids, major manufacturers like Ford, General Motors, and Stellantis, and regional firms such as Plante Moran and BDO. Large employers have dedicated HR and legal teams experienced in H-1B petitions, making sponsorship more straightforward than at smaller firms.
Which visa types are most common for accounting associate roles in Michigan?
The H-1B is the most common visa for accounting associates in Michigan, as the role typically requires a bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field, meeting the specialty occupation standard. Candidates from Australia may qualify for the E-3 visa. Those with Canadian or Mexican citizenship can explore the TN visa under the accountant category. Each pathway has distinct employer requirements and filing timelines.
Which cities in Michigan have the most accounting associate sponsorship jobs?
Detroit and its metro suburbs, including Troy, Southfield, and Dearborn, account for the largest share of accounting associate openings in Michigan, driven by automotive headquarters, financial services firms, and Big Four offices. Grand Rapids is a secondary hub with a growing professional services sector. Ann Arbor adds additional opportunities tied to the University of Michigan and its affiliated research and healthcare organizations.
How to find accounting associate visa sponsorship jobs in Michigan?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international candidates and filters accounting associate roles in Michigan by visa sponsorship availability, saving you from manually screening employers. You can browse current openings, see which Michigan employers have active H-1B or other sponsorship histories, and narrow results to the cities or industries most relevant to your background, all without sifting through listings from employers who don't sponsor.
Are there any Michigan-specific considerations for accounting associate visa sponsorship?
Michigan employers filing H-1B petitions for accounting associates must pay at least the Department of Labor prevailing wage for the Detroit or Grand Rapids metropolitan area, which is determined by job level and location. Michigan's automotive and manufacturing sectors create niche demand for accounting associates with cost accounting or internal audit backgrounds. CPA exam eligibility in Michigan requires 150 credit hours, a detail that can affect how employers assess international candidates' credentials.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored accounting associate jobs in Michigan?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
