Which companies sponsor visas for assistant project managers in Michigan?
Michigan's largest visa sponsors for assistant project manager roles tend to be concentrated in automotive and manufacturing. Ford Motor Company, General Motors, Stellantis, and Magna International have all filed H-1B visa Labor Condition Applications for project management positions. Large engineering and construction firms such as Walbridge and Barton Malow also appear in federal disclosure data. Consulting firms and technology companies with Michigan offices round out the sponsoring employer pool.
Which visa types are most common for assistant project manager roles in Michigan?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for assistant project managers in Michigan, provided the role requires a bachelor's degree in a specific field such as engineering, construction management, or information systems. Candidates from Canada or Mexico may qualify for TN visa status under the NAFTA-successor agreement. Australian citizens can explore the E-3 visa. L-1B intracompany transfers are another pathway for candidates already employed by a multinational with a Michigan office.
Which cities in Michigan have the most assistant project manager sponsorship jobs?
Detroit and its surrounding metro area, including Dearborn, Auburn Hills, and Troy, account for the largest share of assistant project manager sponsorship jobs due to the concentration of automotive headquarters and Tier 1 suppliers. Grand Rapids is a secondary hub driven by manufacturing and healthcare construction. Ann Arbor attracts technology and research-oriented project management roles, partly due to its proximity to the University of Michigan and a growing tech employer base.
How to find assistant project manager visa sponsorship jobs in Michigan?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, so you can search for assistant project manager roles in Michigan without sifting through employers who don't sponsor. The platform aggregates positions from automotive, construction, and technology employers across Detroit, Grand Rapids, and Ann Arbor. Filtering by state and role on Migrate Mate surfaces sponsors who have an active history of filing for project management positions.
Are there state-specific factors that affect visa sponsorship for assistant project managers in Michigan?
Michigan's economy is heavily tied to automotive manufacturing and infrastructure investment, which influences both demand and prevailing wage benchmarks for assistant project managers. The Department of Labor sets prevailing wages by metropolitan area, so Detroit-metro and Grand Rapids rates differ. University of Michigan and Michigan State generate a steady pipeline of international graduates in engineering and construction management, which means competition for sponsored roles in Ann Arbor and East Lansing can be higher than in other Michigan markets.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored assistant project manager jobs in Michigan?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
