Which companies sponsor visas for development managers in Michigan?
Ford Motor Company, General Motors, Stellantis, and Rocket Companies have consistent H-1B sponsorship histories for development manager roles, according to Department of Labor disclosure data. On the software and consulting side, Quicken Loans Technology, Magna International, and large healthcare systems like Henry Ford Health also appear regularly in LCA filings for managerial and technical leadership positions in Michigan.
Which visa types are most common for development manager roles in Michigan?
The H-1B is the most common visa for development managers in Michigan, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring a bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant field like computer science, engineering, or information systems. L-1A visas are also relevant for international managers transferring from a foreign office of the same employer, particularly common within Michigan's global automotive suppliers.
Which cities in Michigan have the most development manager sponsorship jobs?
Detroit and its suburbs, particularly Dearborn, Troy, and Southfield, account for the largest share of development manager sponsorship activity given the concentration of automotive OEMs and their technology divisions. Ann Arbor follows closely, driven by University of Michigan spin-offs, software companies, and health tech employers. Grand Rapids has a smaller but growing base of technology and manufacturing firms with sponsorship histories.
How to find development manager visa sponsorship jobs in Michigan?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it straightforward to browse development manager roles in Michigan without sorting through positions that don't offer sponsorship. You can narrow results by location, filtering for Detroit, Ann Arbor, or Grand Rapids depending on your target employer type. Migrate Mate also surfaces employers with active sponsorship histories, which is useful for prioritizing outreach to companies already familiar with the H-1B process.
Are there state-specific considerations for development manager visa sponsorship in Michigan?
Michigan's automotive industry creates a distinct hiring pattern: many development manager roles sit at the intersection of software engineering and manufacturing operations, which can affect how employers classify the position for H-1B specialty occupation purposes. The University of Michigan and Michigan State University also generate a pipeline of OPT candidates who transition into sponsored roles, meaning some Michigan employers already have established sponsorship infrastructure. Prevailing wage requirements apply statewide and are determined by the Department of Labor based on the specific metropolitan area where the role is located.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored development manager jobs in Michigan?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
