Which companies sponsor visas for development managers in New York?
Large financial institutions like JPMorgan Chase, Goldman Sachs, and Citigroup are among the most active sponsors for development manager roles in New York, alongside major tech employers such as Google, Amazon, and Microsoft with offices in the city. Media and advertising firms including NBCUniversal and Publicis also hire at this level and have sponsored work visas for international candidates in management roles.
Which visa types are most common for development manager roles in New York?
The H-1B visa is the most common visa category for development managers in New York, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in a relevant field like computer science, engineering, or information systems. Candidates already holding L-1A visas through multinational transfers and those on O-1 visas for extraordinary ability also fill development manager positions at New York employers.
How to find development manager visa sponsorship jobs in New York?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it easier to identify development manager openings in New York without sorting through roles that won't support international candidates. You can search by job title and state to surface positions at employers with an active sponsorship history, which is particularly useful in a competitive market like New York where many postings don't disclose sponsorship status upfront.
Which cities in New York have the most development manager sponsorship jobs?
Manhattan accounts for the majority of development manager sponsorship activity in New York, driven by the concentration of financial services, media, and enterprise technology firms headquartered there. Brooklyn's tech corridor around DUMBO and Long Island City in Queens have grown steadily as employers expand beyond Midtown. Buffalo and Albany see smaller volumes, primarily from healthcare systems, government contractors, and state university-affiliated employers.
Are there state-specific factors that affect visa sponsorship for development managers in New York?
New York employers filing H-1B petitions for development managers must meet Department of Labor prevailing wage requirements, which in the New York City metro area are among the highest in the country due to the local wage determination methodology. New York's concentration of large cap-exempt employers, including several major hospitals and research universities like Columbia and NYU, also means some development manager roles can be sponsored outside the annual H-1B lottery.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored development manager jobs in New York?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
