Which companies sponsor visas for development managers in South Carolina?
Blackbaud and Benefitfocus in Charleston, along with SCANA (now Dominion Energy) in Columbia and Michelin North America in Greenville, have documented histories of sponsoring work visas for technical and development roles. Larger employers with established HR and legal infrastructure are more likely to sponsor at the management level than smaller firms or startups.
Which visa types are most common for development manager roles in South Carolina?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for development managers in South Carolina, as the role typically requires a bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, engineering, or a related field, qualifying it as a specialty occupation. Candidates already holding L-1A status through a multinational employer may also transfer into a development manager role at a South Carolina office without entering the H-1B lottery.
Which cities in South Carolina have the most development manager sponsorship jobs?
Charleston leads the state for development manager sponsorship activity, driven by its growing fintech and software sector anchored by companies like Blackbaud and Benefitfocus. Columbia has activity through healthcare IT, state government contractors, and SCANA-related energy firms. Greenville's manufacturing technology sector, particularly around Michelin and BMW's supplier network, also generates demand for development leadership roles.
How to find development manager visa sponsorship jobs in South Carolina?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, so you can search development manager roles in South Carolina without sifting through positions that won't support an international hire. The platform surfaces roles from employers who have sponsored visas before, which is especially useful at the development manager level where sponsorship willingness varies significantly by company size and industry.
Are there any state-specific considerations for development managers seeking visa sponsorship in South Carolina?
South Carolina has no state income tax on wages for this purpose that creates a unique immigration consideration, but the state's relatively smaller tech ecosystem compared to states like Texas or California means fewer total sponsoring employers. The University of South Carolina and Clemson University produce graduate-level engineering and computer science talent, and some employers in the research triangle adjacent areas have pipelines that inform their familiarity with H-1B sponsorship for technical managers.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored development manager jobs in South Carolina?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
