Tips for Finding E-3 Sponsorship Jobs in Michigan
Target automotive and mobility employers directly
Michigan is home to Ford, GM, and Stellantis, plus hundreds of Tier 1 suppliers. Engineering and technology roles at these companies frequently require specialty occupation degrees, making them natural fits for E-3 sponsorship. Research their careers pages directly.
Look beyond Detroit to Ann Arbor
Ann Arbor hosts the University of Michigan, a major hospital system, and a growing tech sector. Employers in this market regularly sponsor specialty occupation workers, so broadening your search beyond metro Detroit can open up significant additional opportunities.
Use Migrate Mate to filter for E-3 sponsors
Identifying which Michigan employers have a proven history of E-3 sponsorship takes research. Migrate Mate filters job listings by visa type, so you can focus your applications on employers already set up to sponsor Australian nationals rather than cold-contacting companies unfamiliar with the process.
Prioritize roles with a clear degree-to-job match
Michigan employers spanning manufacturing, healthcare IT, and financial services frequently sponsor E-3 visas, but the role must qualify as a specialty occupation. Confirm the job description explicitly requires a bachelor's degree in a specific field before applying.
Engage Michigan's healthcare network early
Detroit's Henry Ford Health and Beaumont Health, along with University of Michigan Health, are large systems that sponsor international workers. Clinical, allied health, and health informatics roles are worth targeting if your degree aligns with the specialty occupation requirement.
Check LCA disclosure data for active Michigan sponsors
The Department of Labor's OFLC disclosure data shows which Michigan employers have filed Labor Condition Applications for E-3 workers. Filtering this dataset by state gives you a verified list of companies with recent E-3 sponsorship activity to prioritize in your search.

Which industries in Michigan sponsor the most E-3 visas?
Automotive and advanced manufacturing lead E-3 visa sponsorship in Michigan, driven by major OEMs and their supplier networks requiring engineers, software developers, and data analysts. Healthcare is the second-largest sector, with large hospital systems sponsoring clinical and health informatics professionals. Financial services and university research round out the most active sponsoring industries in the state.
Which cities in Michigan have the most E-3 sponsorship jobs?
The Detroit metro area, including Dearborn and Auburn Hills, has the highest concentration of E-3 sponsorship jobs in Michigan due to the automotive industry's headquarters presence. Ann Arbor is the second most active market, anchored by the University of Michigan and a growing technology sector. Grand Rapids has a smaller but active healthcare and manufacturing sponsorship market.
What types of roles typically qualify for E-3 sponsorship in Michigan?
Roles that qualify require a bachelor's degree or higher in a specific field directly related to the position. In Michigan, this commonly includes mechanical and software engineers in automotive, registered nurses and health informatics specialists in healthcare, financial analysts, and data scientists. General management or administrative roles that accept any degree field typically do not meet the specialty occupation standard required for an E-3 visa.
How do I find E-3 sponsorship jobs in Michigan?
Start with Migrate Mate, which lists Michigan jobs filtered specifically for E-3 visa sponsorship so you're not sifting through postings from employers unfamiliar with the process. Supplement this by reviewing OFLC disclosure data on the Department of Labor's FLAG portal to identify Michigan employers with a track record of E-3 filings, then apply directly through those companies' careers pages.
What is the prevailing wage for E-3 jobs in Michigan?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
