Which hospitality companies sponsor F-1 CPT visas in Michigan?
Large hotel brands with Michigan operations, including Marriott, Hilton, and Hyatt properties, have historically hired F-1 CPT students for internship and cooperative education roles. MGM Grand Detroit and MotorCity Casino Hotel also recruit hospitality students. Resort and conference center operators in northern Michigan, particularly around Traverse City and Mackinac Island, hire CPT students seasonally. Authorization must come from your university DSO and comply with your specific CPT terms.
Which cities in Michigan have the most hospitality F-1 CPT sponsorship jobs?
Detroit concentrates the most hospitality CPT opportunities given its casino resorts, convention center hotels, and stadium-adjacent food and beverage operations. Grand Rapids has a growing meetings and events sector with several downtown hotel properties actively recruiting. Traverse City and the broader northwestern Michigan region offer seasonal resort and tourism roles, particularly during summer and fall, though those positions are time-limited and must align with your CPT authorization period.
What types of hospitality roles typically qualify for F-1 CPT sponsorship?
Roles that qualify for CPT must be integral to or directly related to your degree program. In hospitality, this typically includes front office operations, food and beverage management training, event coordination, hotel revenue management, and guest experience roles at the management-trainee or internship level. General service or hourly positions are less likely to qualify. Your DSO and academic advisor determine whether a specific role meets your program's CPT eligibility requirements.
How do I find hospitality F-1 CPT sponsorship jobs in Michigan?
Migrate Mate lists hospitality positions in Michigan filtered specifically for F-1 CPT eligibility, which removes the manual work of identifying which employers understand CPT authorization. Search by city, role type, and employer to find relevant openings. Beyond Migrate Mate, Michigan's hospitality programs at Michigan State University and Central Michigan University maintain employer relationships with regional hotel and resort groups that have experience hiring international students on CPT.
Are there state-specific considerations for F-1 CPT in Michigan's hospitality industry?
Michigan's hospitality sector has a significant casino resort component, and some gaming-adjacent roles may carry additional licensing requirements that affect eligibility for international students. Seasonal fluctuation in northern Michigan resort employment means CPT authorization dates must align precisely with employment start and end dates. Students at Michigan State University, which has one of the country's stronger hospitality management programs, often have structured employer pipelines that can simplify the CPT approval process.
