Which companies in Michigan sponsor visas for operations directors?
Michigan's largest visa sponsors for senior operations roles include automotive manufacturers like General Motors, Ford, and Stellantis, as well as chemical and materials companies like Dow and Kellogg. Large healthcare systems such as Beaumont Health and Spectrum Health also sponsor operations leaders. These employers have established HR infrastructure and legal teams experienced with H-1B and other sponsorship processes for director-level hires.
Which visa types are most common for operations director roles in Michigan?
The H-1B is the most common visa for operations directors, provided the role requires at least a bachelor's degree in a specific field such as industrial engineering, supply chain management, or business administration. Candidates with extraordinary achievement in operations leadership may also qualify for the O-1A. Those transferring within a multinational company from a foreign affiliate may be eligible for the L-1A intracompany transferee visa.
Which Michigan cities have the most operations director sponsorship jobs?
Detroit and its surrounding metro area, including Dearborn, Auburn Hills, and Warren, account for the largest share of operations director openings due to the concentration of automotive OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers. Grand Rapids is a secondary hub, driven by food manufacturing, healthcare, and office furniture companies. Midland sees demand from the chemical and specialty materials sector, particularly from Dow's headquarters operations.
How to find operations director visa sponsorship jobs in Michigan?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, so you can search operations director roles in Michigan without sorting through positions that exclude international candidates. The platform is built for this use case, surfacing openings from Michigan employers in automotive, manufacturing, and healthcare who have a documented history of sponsoring work visas for senior operations hires.
Are there any Michigan-specific considerations for operations director visa sponsorship?
Michigan's prevailing wage requirements for H-1B roles are benchmarked to the Detroit and Grand Rapids metropolitan statistical areas, which tend to reflect the region's heavy industrial and automotive compensation norms. Operations director roles typically fall under DOL wage Level III or IV, meaning employers must demonstrate the offered compensation meets those thresholds. Candidates coming through Michigan State University or University of Michigan engineering and business programs sometimes have existing employer relationships that ease the sponsorship conversation.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored operations director jobs in Michigan?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
