Which companies sponsor visas for technical project managers in Michigan?
Michigan's largest visa sponsors for technical project managers are concentrated in the automotive and manufacturing technology sectors. Ford Motor Company, General Motors, Stellantis, and their Tier 1 suppliers such as Aptiv and Magna International have established sponsorship track records. Technology firms in Ann Arbor, including Google's local offices and various automotive software companies, also sponsor technical project managers regularly.
Which visa types are most common for technical project manager roles in Michigan?
The H-1B is the most common visa for technical project managers in Michigan, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring a bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant technical field such as computer science, engineering, or information systems. L-1B intracompany transferees are also common given Michigan's large multinational automotive suppliers, who frequently transfer project management specialists from international offices.
Which cities in Michigan have the most technical project manager sponsorship jobs?
Detroit and its surrounding metro, including Dearborn, Auburn Hills, and Southfield, account for the largest share of technical project manager sponsorship activity due to the automotive industry's concentration there. Ann Arbor is a secondary hub, particularly for software and research-oriented roles connected to the University of Michigan's technology ecosystem. Grand Rapids has a smaller but growing presence in manufacturing technology and healthcare IT.
How to find technical project manager visa sponsorship jobs in Michigan?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it practical to search for technical project manager roles in Michigan without sorting through positions that don't support work authorization. The platform surfaces employers across Detroit's automotive corridor, Ann Arbor's tech sector, and statewide manufacturing firms that have active sponsorship histories for technical project management professionals.
Are there any Michigan-specific considerations for technical project managers seeking visa sponsorship?
Michigan's prevailing wage requirements for H-1B technical project managers are set at the metropolitan level, so wages in the Detroit-Warren-Dearborn MSA differ from those in the Ann Arbor or Lansing areas. Candidates with backgrounds in automotive systems, ADAS, or manufacturing operations tend to be competitive given local employer priorities. The University of Michigan and Michigan State University also supply OPT candidates who transition into sponsored roles with Michigan-based employers.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored technical project manager jobs in Michigan?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
