Which companies sponsor visas for physical therapists in Minnesota?
The most active sponsors for physical therapist roles in Minnesota are large integrated health systems. Mayo Clinic in Rochester, M Health Fairview and Allina Health in the Twin Cities, and Essentia Health in Duluth have all filed H-1B visa petitions for PT positions. Smaller outpatient clinics and rehabilitation networks sponsor less frequently, though some do engage staffing firms that support visa processing.
Which visa types are most common for physical therapist roles in Minnesota?
H-1B is the most common visa for physical therapists in Minnesota, as the role qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree. EB-3 immigrant visas are also used, particularly through employer-sponsored green card petitions. International PTs must also obtain VisaScreen certification from CGFNS and a Minnesota PT license before they can legally practice.
Which cities in Minnesota have the most physical therapist sponsorship jobs?
The Twin Cities metro (Minneapolis and St. Paul) concentrates the most PT sponsorship opportunities, driven by the density of hospital networks and outpatient rehabilitation centers there. Rochester is the second most active market, anchored by Mayo Clinic's large PT workforce. Duluth sees demand through Essentia Health and St. Luke's. Rural and greater Minnesota positions exist but sponsorship from those employers is less common.
How to find physical therapist visa sponsorship jobs in Minnesota?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship, so you can search physical therapist roles in Minnesota without sifting through positions that won't support international candidates. The platform surfaces openings from health systems and rehabilitation employers that have a documented history of sponsoring PTs. Filtering by Minnesota and the physical therapist role category gives you the most relevant, sponsorship-confirmed results.
Are there state-specific considerations for international physical therapists pursuing jobs in Minnesota?
Yes. Minnesota requires PT licensure through the Minnesota Board of Physical Therapy before you can practice, and foreign-trained applicants must have their credentials evaluated. VisaScreen certification from CGFNS is required for H-1B and employment-based green card petitions in health professions. The University of Minnesota and other state programs produce a large domestic PT graduate pool, so sponsored roles tend to go to candidates with specialized clinical experience or who fill geographic gaps in underserved areas.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored physical therapist jobs in Minnesota?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
