Which companies sponsor visas for product support engineers in Minnesota?
Minnesota's largest visa sponsors for technical roles include Medtronic, Boston Scientific, UnitedHealth Group, Cargill, and 3M, all headquartered in the Twin Cities metro. Enterprise software and cloud services firms with Minnesota operations, including IBM and Honeywell, also have documented H-1B sponsorship histories for product support and technical support engineering positions.
Which visa types are most common for product support engineer roles in Minnesota?
The H-1B is the most common visa for product support engineers in Minnesota, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring a bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field. Some employers also sponsor TN visas for Canadian and Mexican nationals, and L-1B visas for intracompany transfers with specialized product knowledge at multinational firms.
Which cities in Minnesota have the most product support engineer sponsorship jobs?
Minneapolis and St. Paul account for the large majority of product support engineer sponsorship opportunities in Minnesota, driven by the metro's concentration of Fortune 500 headquarters and technology companies. Minnetonka and Plymouth, both suburban Twin Cities communities, are also notable hubs given Medtronic's presence. Rochester has a smaller but active market tied to IBM and Mayo Clinic's technology operations.
How to find product support engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Minnesota?
Migrate Mate aggregates visa sponsorship jobs specifically for international candidates, making it straightforward to filter for product support engineer roles in Minnesota without sorting through employers who don't sponsor. Because sponsorship willingness isn't always listed in standard job postings, using a platform built around that filter saves significant time. Migrate Mate focuses exclusively on roles where employers have an active sponsorship track record.
Are there any state-specific considerations for product support engineers seeking sponsorship in Minnesota?
Minnesota's strong medical device and healthcare technology sectors mean product support engineers often need domain familiarity alongside core technical skills, which can strengthen a sponsorship case when the specialty occupation requirement is evaluated. The University of Minnesota and Minnesota State system produce engineering pipelines that some employers draw from, and international graduates from those programs sometimes secure H-1B sponsorship directly through campus recruiting channels.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored product support engineer jobs in Minnesota?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
