Which companies sponsor visas for project executives in Minnesota?
Minnesota's largest general contractors and construction management firms are the most active sponsors for project executive roles. Mortenson Construction, Ryan Companies, and Kraus-Anderson have established international hiring programs and the legal infrastructure to support H-1B visa and other work visa petitions. Large healthcare systems like Mayo Clinic and M Health Fairview also sponsor project executives overseeing capital construction programs.
Which visa types are most common for project executive roles in Minnesota?
The H-1B is the most frequently used visa for project executives in Minnesota, as the role typically requires a bachelor's degree or higher in construction management, engineering, or a related field, meeting the specialty occupation standard. Candidates with prior U.S. employer relationships may also be considered for L-1A visas, particularly those moving into executive-level roles from an affiliated overseas office.
Which cities in Minnesota have the most project executive sponsorship jobs?
Minneapolis and St. Paul together account for the overwhelming majority of project executive sponsorship activity in Minnesota. The Twin Cities metro hosts the headquarters of the state's largest construction firms and most major healthcare and commercial real estate developers. Rochester sees additional demand tied to the ongoing Destination Medical Center initiative, which has driven sustained capital project activity and senior project leadership hiring.
How to find project executive visa sponsorship jobs in Minnesota?
Migrate Mate is the most direct way to find project executive roles in Minnesota where employers are actively open to visa sponsorship. The platform filters jobs specifically to sponsorship-willing employers, saving you from filtering through listings at firms that won't support the process. Searching within Migrate Mate for Minnesota construction and healthcare employers is a practical starting point for senior project leadership candidates.
Are there state-specific considerations for project executives seeking sponsorship in Minnesota?
Minnesota's construction and real estate sectors are subject to federal prevailing wage requirements under the H-1B program, meaning sponsoring employers must certify that the offered compensation meets Department of Labor wage levels for the Minneapolis-St. Paul or Rochester metropolitan area. Project executive candidates with licensure in engineering or architecture may find their credentials from recognized international programs accepted, though state registration requirements should be verified separately with the Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored project executive jobs in Minnesota?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
