Which companies sponsor visas for project executives in Michigan?
Michigan's largest construction and program management firms are among the most active visa sponsors for project executive roles. Companies like Barton Malow, Walbridge, and Clark Construction have Michigan operations and documented histories of H-1B sponsorship. Large automotive-adjacent firms and healthcare facility developers in the Detroit metro area also periodically sponsor senior project leadership positions when the candidate pool requires it.
Which visa types are most common for project executive roles in Michigan?
The H-1B is the most common visa for project executives in Michigan, as the role typically requires a bachelor's degree or higher in construction management, engineering, or a related field, meeting the specialty occupation standard. Candidates with extraordinary achievement in large-scale project delivery may also qualify for the O-1A. Canadians and Mexicans in qualifying engineering disciplines can explore the TN visa as a faster alternative.
Which cities in Michigan have the most project executive sponsorship jobs?
Detroit and its surrounding suburbs, including Southfield and Troy, account for the majority of project executive openings in Michigan, driven by ongoing commercial, automotive, and healthcare construction. Grand Rapids is a secondary hub with active development in manufacturing and life sciences facilities. Ann Arbor sees demand tied to university and research campus projects, including University of Michigan infrastructure initiatives.
How to find project executive visa sponsorship jobs in Michigan?
Migrate Mate is the most direct way to find project executive visa sponsorship jobs in Michigan. The platform filters specifically for employers who sponsor work visas, so you're not sorting through listings that don't apply to international candidates. For project executives, focus on firms with active Michigan construction portfolios, as those companies are most likely to have both the hiring need and the institutional capacity to manage sponsorship.
Are there any Michigan-specific considerations for project executives seeking visa sponsorship?
Michigan's construction and infrastructure sector benefits from ongoing investment in automotive manufacturing plant upgrades and Detroit's downtown redevelopment, which sustains demand for senior project leadership. Employers sponsoring project executives must meet Department of Labor prevailing wage requirements, which reflect the seniority and responsibility of the role. Michigan State University and the University of Michigan also produce engineering graduates who sometimes transition into project executive tracks through OPT, making campus-connected firms worth researching.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored project executive jobs in Michigan?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
