Which companies in Minnesota sponsor visas for technical program managers?
UnitedHealth Group and its subsidiary Optum are among the most active sponsors for technical program managers in Minnesota, given their large technology divisions in Eden Prairie and Minnetonka. Best Buy, Target, and Ameriprise Financial also have established sponsorship patterns for this role. Smaller healthcare IT firms and medical device companies such as Medtronic round out the employer pool in the Twin Cities area.
Which visa types are most common for technical program manager roles in Minnesota?
The H-1B visa is the most common visa for technical program managers in Minnesota, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring a bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant technical field. Candidates already holding L-1B intracompany transferee status or O-1 visas for extraordinary ability may also find pathways with Minnesota employers, particularly within large multinationals like UnitedHealth Group or Medtronic that have global operations.
Which cities in Minnesota have the most technical program manager sponsorship jobs?
Minneapolis generates the highest volume of technical program manager sponsorship postings in Minnesota, driven by its concentration of corporate headquarters and technology centers. Saint Paul, Bloomington, and Eden Prairie also produce meaningful hiring activity, particularly from healthcare and financial services employers. The broader Twin Cities metro area accounts for the overwhelming majority of sponsorship-eligible TPM roles in the state.
How to find technical program manager visa sponsorship jobs in Minnesota?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship eligibility, making it straightforward to browse technical program manager openings in Minnesota without sorting through roles that don't offer sponsorship. You can narrow results to the Twin Cities metro or specific employers known to sponsor, such as UnitedHealth Group, Target, or Medtronic. Setting up alerts on Migrate Mate ensures you see new Minnesota TPM sponsorship postings as they appear.
Are there any Minnesota-specific considerations for technical program managers seeking visa sponsorship?
Minnesota's healthcare IT sector is disproportionately large relative to other U.S. states, so technical program managers with experience in regulated environments, EHR systems, or health data platforms tend to see stronger demand here. The University of Minnesota and regional engineering programs supply local talent pipelines, but employer demand for experienced TPMs consistently exceeds local supply, which supports ongoing sponsorship activity. Prevailing wage requirements apply statewide under the H-1B program, with Twin Cities metro rates generally reflecting the higher end of national benchmarks for this role.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored technical program manager jobs in Minnesota?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
