The role operates in a heavily audited environment, requiring consistent adherence to documented procedures, strong attention to detail, and a clear understanding of control requirements. Accuracy, repeatability, and process discipline are essential, as the work directly impacts user access, security posture, and audit outcomes.
To be successful, the individual must demonstrate excellent communication skills, a high degree of personal accountability, and the ability to work independently with minimal oversight. This role requires a self‑motivated professional who takes ownership of daily operational outcomes, proactively manages workload, and communicates clearly and effectively with both technical and business partners.
While the role is operational in nature, it also functions as a Business Systems Analyst, supporting and enhancing internal tools used to execute IAM processes efficiently, consistently, and at scale.
Core Operational Responsibilities
- Execute daily access management operations across approximately 80 Ameriprise Bank applications
- Perform daily retrieval, validation, and reconciliation of user data from 52 external vendor systems
- Create, modify, and remove user accounts in accordance with approved access requests and documented procedures
- Perform expedited password resets to support business continuity and incident response
- Ensure all activities meet audit, compliance, and control requirements
- Maintain and update process and procedural documentation, clearly communicating changes and expectations
- Create and maintain integration and operational documentation for internally developed tools
- Identify operational gaps, inefficiencies, or control weaknesses and take personal ownership in recommending and driving improvements
Knowledge, Experience & Success Characteristics
- Minimum 2 years of experience in an operational IAM, security, or IT support role
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, prioritize daily operational tasks, and meet deadlines without constant direction
- Strong sense of personal accountability for accuracy, completeness, and audit readiness of work products
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, particularly for procedural documentation, stakeholder updates, and audit support
- Experience documenting operational processes using BPMN 2.0
- Working knowledge of ITSM processes and operational support models
- Hands-on experience with:
- Microsoft Access, Excel, SharePoint
- Power Automate and Power Applications
- PowerShell
- Python
Experience working with ServiceNow in an operational or ITSM capacity.
