Which education companies and institutions sponsor F-1 STEM OPT visas in Mississippi?
Mississippi's most active F-1 STEM OPT sponsors in education include research universities such as the University of Mississippi, Mississippi State University, Jackson State University, and the University of Southern Mississippi. Some ed-tech companies and educational software providers operating in the state also file Labor Condition Applications for qualifying STEM roles. Sponsorship activity is concentrated at institutions with active research programs and technology departments.
Which cities in Mississippi have the most education F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship jobs?
Jackson, Starkville, Oxford, and Hattiesburg account for most F-1 STEM OPT opportunities in Mississippi's education sector. Jackson hosts state-level educational agencies and historically Black colleges and universities. Starkville is home to Mississippi State University's STEM research programs. Oxford anchors the University of Mississippi's research enterprise, and Hattiesburg supports the University of Southern Mississippi's technology and data-focused departments.
What types of education roles typically qualify for F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship in Mississippi?
Roles that qualify must fall under a STEM-designated Classification of Instructional Programs code and involve a directly related degree field. In Mississippi's education sector, qualifying positions commonly include data analyst roles in institutional research offices, instructional technology specialists, learning management system administrators, educational software developers, and research staff in STEM-intensive academic departments. Administrative or purely non-technical education roles generally do not qualify.
How do I find education F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship jobs in Mississippi?
Migrate Mate lists education employers in Mississippi with verified F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship history, letting you filter by role type and location. Because sponsorship eligibility depends on both the employer's willingness to file and whether your specific degree and role combination meets STEM OPT requirements, searching Migrate Mate helps you identify institutions and ed-tech companies in Mississippi that have an established track record of supporting F-1 STEM OPT employees.
Are there state-specific or industry-specific considerations for F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship in Mississippi's education sector?
Mississippi's education sector is heavily public-university-driven, meaning many sponsoring employers are state institutions subject to state hiring processes and budget cycles that can affect timeline. Public universities must also comply with E-Verify requirements for federal contractors. STEM OPT requires a formal training plan submitted through your DSO, and the role must be paid and directly related to your STEM degree field, which narrows the pool of qualifying education positions in the state.
