Job Summary:

The Materials Coordinator is responsible for ensuring the uninterrupted flow of materials required to support manufacturing operations by coordinating inventory, purchasing approved materials and supplies, warehouse activities, and yard operations. This role serves as a key operational partner across production, purchasing, and logistics while providing day-to-day coordination of yard personnel to ensure materials are received, stored, and delivered safely and efficiently. In Spartan Composites' collaborative manufacturing environment, the position has broad ownership for inventory integrity, material availability, and operational continuity.

Required Qualifications:

• High school diploma, GED, equivalent education, or demonstrated combination of education, training, and relevant experience.

• Ability to safely perform work within a manufacturing and warehouse environment.

• Training or coursework in inventory control, warehouse operations, Lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, or quality systems.

• Ability to obtain equipment certifications required for assigned duties if applicable.

Required Experience:

• Experience coordinating inventory replenishment, purchasing materials or supplies, or supporting procurement activities.

• Experience directing or coordinating the daily work of others without necessarily having formal hiring or disciplinary authority.

Preferred Experience:

• Experience supporting receiving, shipping, warehouse, or yard operations in a manufacturing environment.

• Experience working directly with suppliers to coordinate deliveries, resolve shortages, and maintain inventory availability.

Key Responsibilities:

• Coordinate the timely procurement, receipt, storage, and distribution of raw materials, production supplies, and operating consumables to support manufacturing schedules and customer commitments.

• Monitor inventory levels and independently initiate purchasing of approved materials, supplies, and consumables to maintain operational continuity while supporting inventory control objectives.

• Maintain accurate inventory records through effective material transactions, reconciliation activities, cycle counts, and inventory control practices.

• Coordinate inbound and outbound material movement, including receiving, shipping, and yard operations, to ensure efficient and safe material flow throughout the facility.

• Provide day-to-day direction, work coordination, and performance oversight for the Yard Worker responsible for loading, unloading, staging, and movement of materials, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with company procedures.

• Partner with purchasing, production, quality, suppliers, and operations leadership to proactively resolve material shortages, delivery issues, inventory discrepancies, and supplier performance concerns.

• Analyze inventory trends and material usage to recommend improvements that optimize inventory investment, reduce shortages, and improve operational efficiency.

• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that strengthen inventory accuracy, warehouse organization, material traceability, and overall supply chain performance.

Environmental, Health, and Safety Requirements

• Must be able to traverse manufacturing spaces, & weather conditions as well as access a variety of storage spaces, shelving units by stretching, squatting, reaching, and lifting moderate sized boxes.

• Follow all company safety policies, OSHA regulations, lockout/tagout procedures, and environmental compliance requirements.

• Properly use required PPE and safely operate tools, machinery, and diagnostic equipment.

• Identify, report, and correct unsafe conditions and hazardous work practices.

• Safely handle and store chemicals and hazardous materials in accordance with SDS and company procedures.

• Maintain clean and organized work areas in accordance with housekeeping and 5S/6S standards.

• Work in industrial manufacturing environments with exposure to moving machinery, electrical systems, noise, heat, vibration, dust, and varying temperatures.

• Participate in required safety training, emergency response procedures, and incident reporting activities.

Pay: $65,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
