Which companies sponsor visas for physical therapy assistants in Missouri?
Large hospital systems and rehabilitation networks account for most PTA visa sponsorships in Missouri. Employers like BJC HealthCare, MU Health Care, SSM Health, Mercy Health, and CoxHealth have sponsored internationally trained allied health workers in the past. Outpatient therapy groups and long-term care facilities also hire PTAs, though sponsorship availability varies by organization size and staffing needs.
Which visa types are most common for physical therapy assistant roles in Missouri?
The H-1B visa is the most frequently used category for PTAs, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring an associate degree in a specific field. Some employers also pursue permanent residence sponsorship through the EB-3 category for skilled workers. PTAs holding TN visa status (Canadian or Mexican nationals) may also qualify under the NAFTA/USMCA professional list for allied health roles.
Which cities in Missouri have the most physical therapy assistant sponsorship jobs?
St. Louis and Kansas City are the two largest hiring markets for PTAs in Missouri, driven by dense concentrations of hospital networks, outpatient clinics, and senior care facilities. Springfield is a growing secondary market anchored by CoxHealth and Mercy. Columbia, home to MU Health Care and an academic medical community, also generates consistent PTA demand, including for internationally trained candidates.
How to find physical therapy assistant visa sponsorship jobs in Missouri?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international job seekers and filters PTA roles in Missouri by visa sponsorship availability, saving you from sorting through listings that won't support your immigration status. The platform surfaces positions from health systems and rehabilitation employers actively open to sponsoring international candidates. Searching by state and role on Migrate Mate is the most direct way to focus your PTA job search in Missouri.
Are there state-specific requirements physical therapy assistants should know before pursuing sponsorship in Missouri?
Missouri requires PTAs to hold a license issued by the Missouri State Board of Healing Arts before practicing. International candidates must verify that their education meets Missouri's licensing requirements, which includes graduation from a CAPTE-accredited PTA program and passing the NPTE-PTA exam. Employers typically require proof of licensure or eligibility before initiating a visa petition, so beginning the licensure process early is important.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored physical therapy assistant jobs in Missouri?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
