Which companies sponsor visas for product software engineers in Nebraska?
Omaha-based employers with documented H-1B sponsorship histories for software engineering roles include PayPal, Union Pacific Railroad, First Data (now Fiserv), and Sandhills Publishing. Lincoln has seen sponsorship activity from Hudl, a sports analytics platform with a sizable engineering org, and several insurance technology firms. University of Nebraska Medical Center and state government contractors occasionally sponsor product-focused engineering roles as well.
Which visa types are most common for product software engineer roles in Nebraska?
The H-1B is the most common visa for product software engineers in Nebraska, as these roles typically qualify as specialty occupations requiring a bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field. TN visas are available to Canadian and Mexican nationals working under USMCA. Candidates already holding OPT or STEM OPT authorization can often begin work before an H-1B petition is filed.
How to find product software engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Nebraska?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically for visa sponsorship eligibility, making it easier to identify product software engineer openings in Nebraska without sorting through roles that won't support international candidates. You can filter by state and role type to surface positions from Omaha and Lincoln employers with active sponsorship programs, saving significant research time compared to unfiltered job searches.
Which cities in Nebraska have the most product software engineer sponsorship jobs?
Omaha accounts for the majority of product software engineer sponsorship activity in Nebraska, driven by its concentration of financial services, logistics technology, and insurance firms. Lincoln is a secondary hub, with Hudl and several agtech and edtech companies maintaining engineering teams there. Outside these two cities, sponsorship opportunities for product software engineers are limited.
Are there any Nebraska-specific considerations for product software engineers seeking visa sponsorship?
Nebraska employers filing H-1B petitions must pay at least the Department of Labor prevailing wage for the specific role and metropolitan area. Omaha and Lincoln have separate prevailing wage determinations, which can differ from national benchmarks. Nebraska also has an active university pipeline through the University of Nebraska-Lincoln's computer science and engineering programs, which means some local employers are accustomed to sponsoring candidates transitioning from OPT status.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored product software engineer jobs in Nebraska?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
