Which companies sponsor visas for architects in New Hampshire?
Mid-size architecture and engineering firms are the most active sponsors in New Hampshire. Lavallee Brensinger Architects, Banwell Architects, and Harriman have sponsored international staff on H-1B visas for projects spanning healthcare facilities, university buildings, and municipal infrastructure. Larger AEC firms with New Hampshire offices, including national practices with regional studios in Manchester or Portsmouth, also file H-1B petitions for licensed and emerging architects.
Which visa types are most common for architect roles in New Hampshire?
The H-1B is by far the most common visa for architects in New Hampshire. Architecture qualifies as a specialty occupation because the role typically requires at minimum a professional bachelor's degree in architecture. The O-1A is an option for architects with exceptional recognition, such as award-winning design work or significant published projects. Canadian and Mexican nationals may also qualify under the TN visa category, which lists architecture as a designated profession.
Which cities in New Hampshire have the most architect sponsorship jobs?
Manchester is the primary hub for architecture sponsorship in New Hampshire, as the state's largest city and home to several established firms. Concord, the state capital, generates demand through government and civic projects. Portsmouth has a growing design community tied to coastal development and historic preservation work. Nashua, near the Massachusetts border, also attracts architecture talent given its proximity to the Boston metro AEC market.
How to find architect visa sponsorship jobs in New Hampshire?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international job seekers and filters architect roles in New Hampshire by visa sponsorship willingness, so you're not sorting through listings from employers who won't sponsor. Search for architect positions filtered to New Hampshire on Migrate Mate, and prioritize firms with documented H-1B filing history in AEC. Having NCARB credentials or progress toward U.S. licensure strengthens your profile with New Hampshire firms reviewing international candidates.
What should international architects know about working in New Hampshire?
New Hampshire does not have a state income tax on wages, which affects total compensation comparisons with neighboring states. Architects pursuing licensure must meet NCARB's Architectural Experience Program requirements regardless of visa status. The state's relatively small market means firms value candidates who can contribute across project phases. Proximity to Boston means some sponsors have offices in both markets, which can create flexibility in work location on H-1B petitions.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored architect jobs in New Hampshire?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
