Which companies sponsor visas for controls engineers in New Hampshire?
BAE Systems in Nashua is one of New Hampshire's largest employers of controls and automation engineers, with a documented history of H-1B sponsorship. Other sponsors include manufacturers in the Merrimack Valley corridor and defense subcontractors around Londonderry and Bedford. Larger industrial automation firms with New Hampshire operations are generally more likely to have established immigration sponsorship processes than smaller regional shops.
Which visa types are most common for controls engineer roles in New Hampshire?
The H-1B is the most common visa for controls engineers in New Hampshire, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related field. Canadian and Mexican nationals may qualify for the TN visa under the NAFTA/USMCA engineer category, which allows for faster processing without a lottery. Australians can apply for the E-3 visa, which also bypasses the H-1B cap.
Which cities in New Hampshire have the most controls engineer sponsorship jobs?
Nashua is the primary hub, driven by BAE Systems and a cluster of advanced manufacturing companies in southern New Hampshire. Manchester, as the state's largest city, hosts a range of industrial and automation employers. The Merrimack and Londonderry areas also have notable concentrations of defense and manufacturing employers who hire controls engineers with sponsorship. Most sponsoring employers are located in Hillsborough County in the state's southeast.
How to find controls engineer visa sponsorship jobs in New Hampshire?
Migrate Mate is a job board built specifically for international candidates seeking visa sponsorship, and you can filter by role and state to find controls engineer positions in New Hampshire. Because sponsorship availability isn't always listed in standard job postings, using a platform like Migrate Mate that focuses on verified sponsoring employers saves significant research time. Filtering by industry, such as defense manufacturing or industrial automation, helps narrow to the most relevant New Hampshire openings.
Are there any New Hampshire-specific factors controls engineers should know before applying for sponsorship?
New Hampshire has no state income tax on wages, which affects how total compensation compares to neighboring states, though this doesn't directly impact the visa process. Employers filing H-1B petitions must pay the Department of Labor's prevailing wage for the specific role and location, so expect offered salaries to reflect southern New Hampshire's market rates rather than national averages. UNH's engineering program in Durham also creates a regional pipeline, meaning some employers may prefer local graduates, making a strong application package especially important for international candidates.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored controls engineer jobs in New Hampshire?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
