THE ROLE
The Mechanical Engineer II will be part of a global, cross-disciplinary team implementing, validating and maintaining mechanical subsystems for Markem-Imaje current and future printers. You will have the opportunity to work with talented engineers in a global environment, building complex products, from proof of concept to production, across a variety of printing technologies targeted to meet our customers’ needs and the strategic objectives of Markem-Imaje.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop innovative mechanical designs and solutions from concept through production, aligned with project and internal requirements.
- Produce 3D CAD models and engineering drawings using PTC Creo (Preferred), or other similar CAD Tools (Solidworks, NX, ETC.) create and manage part numbers and engineering BoMs using Windchill.
- Deploy state-of-the-art mechanical engineering development practices (such as rapid prototyping, tolerance stack analysis, FEA/CFD simulation, etc.)
- Plan and execute mechanical engineering related lab experiments in support of design validation and coordinate experiments in collaboration with the mechanical engineering technicians.
- Present designs and findings in technical gate meetings, design reviews and problem-solving activities, bringing strong technical expertise.
- Collaborate with cross-functional, multi-site teams and engage with third-party engineering partners and suppliers, showcasing exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
- Follow and drive improvement of mechanical engineering best practices and tools to improve team efficiency, effectiveness, and mechanical subsystem quality.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent
- Minimum 2 years of experience in Mechanical engineering R&D roles within an industrial environment is required.
- Ability to read engineering drawings, knowledge of machine shop practices, mechanical fits and tolerances, and ability to read, comprehend, and transmit complicated and technical details
- Ability to do complex electrical wiring based on engineering drawings and schematics and use test and calibration equipment to troubleshoot systems
- Experience in CAD design (Creo/Windchill preferred), FEA and thermal/pneumatics/electro-mechanical testing is required.
- Experience designing industrial products from concept through production is preferred.
- Proficiency in Multiphysics simulation tools (ANSYS, COMSOL) considered a strong plus.
- Knowledge of marking and coding equipment, especially using drop on demand inkjet technology, is highly desirable.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to define a path to solve complex problems, share that vision, and support the team for execution.
- Innovative, autonomous and able to motivate others.
