Which manufacturing companies sponsor visas in Oregon?
Intel leads Oregon's visa sponsorship activity, particularly for semiconductor engineers and process technicians. Nike sponsors for supply chain and manufacturing engineering roles, while Precision Castparts (now Berkshire Hathaway Aerospace) sponsors machining and aerospace manufacturing positions. Daimler Trucks North America in Portland and HP in Corvallis also maintain active visa sponsorship programs for technical manufacturing roles.
How to find manufacturing visa sponsorship jobs in Oregon?
Migrate Mate specializes in connecting international candidates with Oregon manufacturing employers who sponsor visas. Focus on the Portland-Hillsboro corridor for semiconductor and high-tech manufacturing opportunities, and search for roles at established sponsors like Intel, Nike, and Precision Castparts. Many positions require engineering degrees or specialized technical skills in automation, quality control, or process improvement.
Which visa types are most common for manufacturing roles in Oregon?
H-1B visas dominate for engineering positions in semiconductor manufacturing, quality assurance, and process optimization roles. TN visas serve Canadian and Mexican engineers well, particularly in Portland's diverse manufacturing base. L-1 visas are common for transfers within multinational companies like Nike and Intel, while O-1 visas occasionally appear for specialized roles in advanced manufacturing research and development.
Which cities in Oregon have the most manufacturing sponsorship jobs?
Portland and its suburbs, including Hillsboro and Beaverton, concentrate most manufacturing sponsorship opportunities due to Intel's massive presence and Nike's global headquarters. Corvallis offers positions through HP and Oregon State University partnerships. Medford and Eugene provide smaller but consistent opportunities in food processing and specialized manufacturing, though at lower volumes than the Portland metro area.
What are prevailing wage considerations for Oregon manufacturing visa roles?
Oregon's prevailing wages for manufacturing engineering roles typically exceed national averages, particularly in the Portland metro area where semiconductor and high-tech manufacturing drive competition. The state's lack of sales tax can effectively increase take-home pay compared to similar roles in other states. Prevailing wage determinations often reflect Oregon's higher cost of living in urban areas while remaining competitive for skilled technical positions.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored manufacturing jobs in Oregon?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
