Position Summary
The Compactor Repair Technician is responsible for performing preventative maintenance, repairs, reconstruction, installation, modifications to all types of waste and recycling industry compactors and balers equipment. Hiring Range: $27.00-$30.00/hour
Key Responsibilities
- Performs inspections, conducts diagnostic tests, preventative maintenance, and repairs on various types of compactors, balers, and other stationary
- Reads and understands electrical schematics for control systems.
- Diagnoses and repairs electrical problems on hydraulic and electrical components (110/120 VAC – 480 VAC) on various types of compactors and balers, including working with high-voltage electricity.
- Maintains knowledge of proper installation of compactors and other types of stationary equipment and performs or assists with installations as scheduled within relevant deadlines.
- Performs welding and fabrication work on equipment when needed for a repair.
- Completes paperwork and/or data entry associated with repairing relevant equipment in an accurate and timely manner.
- Maintains a clean and safe work area in compliance with Casella and OSHA standards, performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures and wears PPE as required for the position.
- Participates in training and other learning opportunities to expand knowledge of the company, products, sales, and services and performs any other duties needed to help drive our vision, fulfill our mission, and/or abide by our core values.
Education, Experience & Qualifications
The successful candidate will have a high school diploma or GED, a clean driver’s license and previous experience with waste and recycling compaction equipment, and experience with components such as pumps, valves, cylinders, couplers, hydraulic controls, and hydraulic schematics. Good listening, communication and problem-solving skills, proven commitment to work and a dedication to safety are required. Strong electrical diagnostic skills pertaining to electric over hydraulic compaction equipment, electrical schematics and drawings, and excellent welding and fabrication skills are necessary.
