Which companies sponsor visas for customer engineers in New Jersey?
IBM, Cognizant, Infosys, Wipro, and Tata Consultancy Services are among the most active H-1B visa sponsors for technical customer-facing roles in New Jersey, based on Department of Labor disclosure data. Larger enterprise software vendors and managed services firms with New Jersey offices also regularly sponsor customer engineers, particularly those supporting financial services and pharmaceutical clients.
Which visa types are most common for customer engineer roles in New Jersey?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for customer engineer positions in New Jersey, as the role typically requires a bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related technical field and qualifies as a specialty occupation. TN visas are an option for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying engineering classifications. Australian citizens may explore the E-3 visa for eligible roles.
Which cities in New Jersey have the most customer engineer sponsorship jobs?
Newark, Jersey City, and Princeton see the highest concentration of customer engineer sponsorship activity in New Jersey. Newark and Jersey City benefit from proximity to New York City's enterprise client base, while Princeton attracts roles tied to pharmaceutical and research-sector technology. Parsippany and Bridgewater also have notable clusters of IT services and software firms that hire customer engineers.
How to find customer engineer visa sponsorship jobs in New Jersey?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it straightforward to find customer engineer roles in New Jersey without sifting through positions that don't support work authorization. You can narrow results by location and role type to focus on New Jersey employers who have an established pattern of sponsoring technical customer-facing positions.
Are there any New Jersey-specific considerations for customer engineers seeking visa sponsorship?
New Jersey's high concentration of financial services, pharmaceutical, and professional services firms means customer engineer roles often require client-site work or travel across the tri-state area, which can affect how employers structure job descriptions and Labor Condition Applications. Employers must file the LCA under the correct work location, so roles involving significant client-site presence in New York or Pennsylvania may require additional filings.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored customer engineer jobs in New Jersey?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
