Which companies sponsor visas for business development roles in New York?
Large financial institutions like Citigroup, Goldman Sachs, and JPMorgan Chase sponsor business development professionals regularly, as do technology firms including Google, Amazon, and Salesforce with New York offices. Media and advertising companies such as Publicis and WPP also hire internationally for partnerships and growth roles. Enterprise-stage companies in New York's startup ecosystem are generally more likely to sponsor than early-stage firms.
Which visa types are most common for business development roles in New York?
The H-1B visa is the most common visa category for business development roles in New York, provided the position qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in a relevant field. The O-1A is an option for candidates with demonstrated exceptional achievement in their industry. Nationals of certain countries may also qualify for treaty visas such as the E-3 visa (Australians) or TN visa (Canadians and Mexicans).
Which cities in New York have the most business development sponsorship jobs?
New York City accounts for the overwhelming majority of business development sponsorship opportunities in the state, concentrated in Manhattan's Midtown and Downtown corridors where financial services, tech, media, and consulting firms are headquartered. Albany has a smaller market centered on government-adjacent industries and healthcare. Buffalo and Rochester see some activity in manufacturing, logistics, and regional banking, but significantly fewer international hires at the business development level.
How to find business development visa sponsorship jobs in New York?
Migrate Mate is built specifically to surface visa sponsorship jobs for international candidates, including business development roles across New York. You can filter by location and role type to focus on New York City or other parts of the state. Targeting employers with a documented history of H-1B filings in business development or sales strategy is one of the most practical approaches, and Migrate Mate surfaces those employers directly.
Are there any New York-specific considerations for business development visa sponsorship?
New York City's high cost of living means prevailing wage requirements for H-1B business development roles tend to be among the highest in the country, which influences which employers actively sponsor. The city's concentration of Fortune 500 headquarters means many sponsoring employers have dedicated immigration support teams and established processes. Candidates with experience in financial services, enterprise SaaS, or media partnerships tend to find the most sponsorship-friendly employers in this market.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored business development jobs in New York?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
