Which companies sponsor visas for DevOps engineers in New York?
Large financial institutions including JPMorgan Chase, Citigroup, and Goldman Sachs are among the most active H-1B sponsors for DevOps roles in New York. Media and tech companies such as Verizon, Spotify, and IBM also file regularly. Consulting firms like Deloitte and Accenture, which maintain significant New York operations, appear consistently in Department of Labor disclosure data for DevOps-related filings.
Which visa types are most common for DevOps roles in New York?
The H-1B is the dominant visa category for DevOps engineers in New York, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field. Candidates with Canadian or Mexican citizenship may qualify for TN visa status under the USMCA. Those with extraordinary ability may pursue the O-1A, though it requires substantial documented achievement.
Which cities in New York have the most DevOps sponsorship jobs?
Manhattan accounts for the large majority of DevOps sponsorship activity in New York State, driven by its concentration of financial services, media, and enterprise technology employers. Brooklyn's growing tech community in areas like DUMBO also generates sponsorship opportunities. Albany sees some activity through state government contractors and healthcare IT. Outside New York City, Buffalo and Rochester have smaller but active tech hiring markets.
How to find devops visa sponsorship jobs in New York?
Migrate Mate filters DevOps jobs in New York specifically by visa sponsorship availability, saving you from manually screening postings. The platform aggregates roles from employers with documented sponsorship histories across New York's finance, media, and enterprise tech sectors. Searching by role and state on Migrate Mate surfaces opportunities at companies that have actively filed H-1B petitions for DevOps positions in this state.
Are there state-specific considerations for DevOps visa sponsorship in New York?
New York employers must meet Department of Labor prevailing wage requirements for the specific metropolitan area where work is performed, and Manhattan wages are benchmarked to one of the highest-cost labor markets in the country. DevOps roles touching financial systems may also require background checks and regulatory clearances that can extend onboarding timelines. New York's density of large enterprise employers generally means more established immigration support processes compared to smaller markets.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored devops jobs in New York?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
