Which fintech companies in New York sponsor F-1 CPT visas?
Large financial institutions and fintech firms with established university hiring programs are the most consistent CPT sponsors in New York. Companies like JPMorgan Chase, Goldman Sachs, Bloomberg, Mastercard, and American Express have structured internship programs that accommodate CPT authorization. Newer fintech startups in the NYC ecosystem also hire CPT students, though their processes tend to be less formalized and vary by team and hiring manager.
Which cities or areas in New York have the most fintech F-1 CPT sponsorship jobs?
Manhattan accounts for the overwhelming majority of fintech CPT opportunities in New York, particularly in Midtown, the Financial District, and Hudson Yards, where major banks, payment processors, and fintech firms are headquartered. Brooklyn's tech corridor in DUMBO hosts a growing number of fintech startups. Outside New York City, fintech CPT roles are sparse, so most students focus their search within the five boroughs.
What types of fintech roles typically qualify for F-1 CPT sponsorship in New York?
Roles that directly align with a student's degree program qualify for CPT. In New York fintech, that commonly includes software engineering internships, data science and analytics roles, quantitative research positions, financial engineering, and risk or compliance analyst roles for students in finance or economics programs. The connection between the role and your enrolled program is what your school's DSO evaluates, not the employer's industry alone.
How do I find fintech F-1 CPT sponsorship jobs in New York?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international students searching for visa-friendly roles, and filters for F-1 CPT fintech jobs in New York directly, saving you from sorting through listings that don't support international students. Beyond using Migrate Mate, target companies with existing university recruiting programs, as they are far more familiar with CPT paperwork requirements and timelines than startups hiring their first international intern.
Are there any New York-specific or fintech-specific considerations for F-1 CPT sponsorship?
New York's fintech sector is heavily regulated, and some roles at broker-dealers or investment advisers may require FINRA licensing exams that are difficult to complete within a short CPT internship window. Students should also confirm that their university's DSO can authorize CPT for the specific start and end dates the employer requires, as New York fintech firms often have fixed onboarding cycles that don't flex easily around academic calendar constraints.
