Which healthcare companies sponsor F-1 CPT visas in New York?
Major health systems in New York with established international student programs include NewYork-Presbyterian, NYU Langone Health, Mount Sinai Health System, Northwell Health, and Montefiore Medical Center. Academic medical centers tend to have more structured CPT arrangements because they maintain formal partnerships with area universities. Smaller private practices rarely have the administrative infrastructure to coordinate CPT authorization with a DSO.
Which cities in New York have the most healthcare F-1 CPT sponsorship jobs?
New York City accounts for the large majority of F-1 CPT healthcare positions in the state, driven by the density of academic medical centers and research institutions in Manhattan, Brooklyn, and the Bronx. Buffalo has a growing cluster of opportunities tied to SUNY Buffalo's health sciences programs and Kaleida Health. Albany offers roles in public health agencies and state-affiliated research organizations.
What types of healthcare roles typically qualify for F-1 CPT sponsorship?
Roles that align directly with a student's enrolled degree program are the ones most likely to receive CPT authorization. Common qualifying positions include clinical research coordinator, health informatics analyst, public health research assistant, biostatistics intern, and healthcare IT associate. Direct patient care roles such as physician or registered nurse positions rarely qualify for CPT because licensure requirements are separate from and not satisfied by CPT authorization alone.
How do I find healthcare F-1 CPT sponsorship jobs in New York?
Migrate Mate lists healthcare positions in New York from employers with a documented history of sponsoring F-1 workers, letting you filter specifically by CPT eligibility so you are not sifting through postings that exclude international students. Beyond browsing Migrate Mate, contact your DSO early to confirm which employers your university has existing CPT agreements with, as pre-approved employer relationships can significantly shorten the authorization timeline.
Are there state-specific considerations for F-1 CPT in New York healthcare?
New York's healthcare sector is heavily regulated at the state level, and some roles require professional licensure through the New York State Education Department regardless of visa status. CPT does not substitute for or accelerate licensure. Students in clinical or lab-based roles should also confirm that their university's CPT authorization covers the specific work site, since New York health systems often operate across multiple affiliated campuses and off-site facilities.
