Which companies sponsor visas for food service managers in New York?
Large hospitality groups, hotel chains, and institutional employers are the most consistent sponsors. Companies like Aramark, Sodexo, and Compass Group operate across New York and have HR infrastructure for sponsoring foreign national managers. Major hotel brands with New York properties, hospital networks such as NYU Langone and NewYork-Presbyterian, and university dining programs also sponsor food service manager roles with some regularity.
Which visa types are most common for food service manager roles in New York?
The H-1B is the most common visa for food service managers in New York, provided the role qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in hospitality management, food science, or a related field. The L-1 is relevant for managers transferring within a multinational hospitality or restaurant group. Some candidates with exceptional recognition in culinary or hospitality management explore the O-1, though the evidentiary standard is high.
Which cities in New York have the most food service manager sponsorship jobs?
New York City accounts for the significant majority of food service manager sponsorship opportunities in the state, driven by its dense concentration of hotels, restaurants, event venues, and healthcare institutions. Buffalo has institutional sponsors through its hospital systems and university campuses. Albany sees sponsorship activity tied to state government-adjacent dining operations and regional hotel properties, though volume there is considerably lower than in New York City.
How to find food service manager visa sponsorship jobs in New York?
Migrate Mate is a job board built specifically for international candidates seeking visa sponsorship, and it filters food service manager roles by state, including New York. Because not all employers advertise sponsorship availability upfront, Migrate Mate helps narrow your search to employers with a documented history of sponsoring foreign nationals, saving time compared to applying broadly and following up individually with hiring teams.
What should food service managers know about visa sponsorship in New York specifically?
New York employers sponsoring H-1B food service managers must pay the prevailing wage determined by the Department of Labor for the specific role and location. New York City's high cost of living means prevailing wages there are generally higher than upstate regions. Candidates should also note that H-1B specialty occupation classification for food service management roles can face scrutiny, so the employer's documentation connecting the role to a degree requirement matters significantly.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored food service manager jobs in New York?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
