Which companies sponsor visas for full stack engineers in New York?
Large technology and financial services employers are among the most active H-1B sponsors for full stack engineers in New York. Companies like Google, Amazon, Meta, JPMorgan Chase, Citigroup, Bloomberg, and Spotify have consistent histories of filing petitions for these roles. Mid-size fintech and adtech firms headquartered in Manhattan also sponsor regularly, though volume varies year to year based on headcount and project needs.
Which visa types are most common for full stack engineer roles in New York?
The H-1B is by far the most common visa for full stack engineers in New York, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring a bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field. Employers also use the O-1A for engineers with exceptional ability, and the L-1B for intracompany transfers. Canadians and Mexicans may be eligible for the TN visa under the USMCA, which covers computer systems analysts.
How to find full stack engineer visa sponsorship jobs in New York?

Which cities in New York have the most full stack engineer sponsorship jobs?
New York City accounts for the overwhelming majority of full stack engineer sponsorship jobs in the state, with Midtown and Lower Manhattan hosting the densest concentration of tech and finance employers. Brooklyn's DUMBO and Williamsburg neighborhoods have a growing cluster of startups that sponsor visas. Are there any New York-specific considerations for full stack engineers seeking visa sponsorship?
New York City's high cost of living means Department of Labor prevailing wage determinations for full stack engineer roles tend to be among the highest in the country, which affects what employers must certify they will pay on a Labor Condition Application. New York also has a strong university pipeline from Columbia, Cornell Tech, and NYU that feeds local tech hiring, meaning competition for sponsored roles is often intense. Engineers with experience in fintech, media, or adtech will find the most employer alignment in this market.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored full stack engineer jobs in New York?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
