Overview
Core AI is at the forefront of Microsoft’s mission to reinvent how software is built. We believe that in the future everyone will be a builder and CoreAI is creating the platforms, tools, and experiences that empower every builder to shape the future with AI.
The CoreAI organization brings together Microsoft’s industry‑leading developer products (such as GitHub and VSCode) with the world’s largest selection of cutting‑edge AI models and tools through Microsoft Foundry. By unifying this ecosystem, we enable developers and enterprises to build intelligent, adaptive, and transformative applications faster and more confidently than ever before.
Our team is also responsible for the trust and safety foundations that ensure everyone can build AI responsibly. We are innovating across the entire stack to help every builder create trustworthy, safe, and reliable AI experiences that scale—from prototype to planetary workloads.
The Responsible AI Group focuses on identifying, measuring, mitigating, and monitoring Responsible AI risks in AI-generated and human-generated content spanning text, image, audio, video, and multimodal content. We innovate across the entire stack to help every builder create trustworthy AI that scales.
We are looking for a Member of Technical Staff who is truly AI-native—someone who experiments constantly, builds with modern AI tools for fun, and delivers impact through rapid iteration cycles. In this role, you'll shape and ship high-performance, highly available AI services that enable people to build and use AI responsibly.
What We’re Looking For
- A builder who lives and breathes AI—you regularly prototype, experiment, or ship features using modern AI tools, frameworks, and model APIs.
- Experience working with generative AI systems (e.g., LLMs, diffusion models, multimodal models), including prompt engineering, evaluation, or fine-tuning.
- Hands-on experience with AI-assisted coding tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code).
- Familiarity with Responsible AI and security concepts or strong interest in learning them deeply.
- Experience working in fast-paced, experimental environments (startups, prototypes, or incubation teams).
- Comfort with taking ideas from ambiguous beginnings to production, iterating fast with customer insights.
Responsibilities
- Prototype, build, and iterate on new Responsible AI tools and capabilities that make it simple for developers to build and deploy AI responsibly at scale.
- Apply subject-matter expertise in cross-product features, collaborating with appropriate stakeholders to drive project plans, release plans, and deliverables across multiple groups.
- Proactively seek out new knowledge and adapt to new trends, technical solutions, and patterns that improve the availability, reliability, efficiency, observability, and performance of products while also driving consistency in monitoring and operations at scale, and share knowledge with other engineers.
- Work effectively in a fast-paced product environment where rapid prototyping, tight feedback loops, and iterative learning are core to how we build.
