Which legal companies sponsor H-1B1 Chile visas in New York?
New York's largest law firms, including firms in the Am Law 100 headquartered in Midtown Manhattan, along with major financial institutions such as JPMorgan Chase, Goldman Sachs, and Citigroup sponsor H-1B1 Chile visas for legal professionals. Corporate legal departments at multinational companies and compliance-heavy industries like banking and insurance also file Labor Condition Applications for Chilean nationals in qualifying roles.
Which cities in New York have the most legal H-1B1 Chile sponsorship jobs?
Manhattan accounts for the overwhelming majority of legal H-1B1 Chile sponsorship opportunities in New York, driven by its dense concentration of BigLaw firms, financial sector legal departments, and international corporations. Buffalo and Albany see limited legal sponsorship activity, primarily through government-adjacent organizations and regional law firms, but neither compares to New York City's volume of LCA filings in the legal industry.
What types of legal roles typically qualify for H-1B1 Chile sponsorship?
Roles that consistently qualify include associates and counsel at law firms, in-house attorneys at corporations, compliance officers, legal analysts, and contract specialists where the position requires at minimum a bachelor's degree in law or a directly related field. Paralegal roles may qualify if the employer can demonstrate a specific degree requirement. General administrative legal support positions typically do not meet the specialty occupation standard required for H-1B1 visa classification.
How do I find legal H-1B1 Chile sponsorship jobs in New York?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for this search, you can filter by visa type, industry, and state to surface legal employers in New York that have documented H-1B1 Chile LCA filing history. This saves significant time compared to contacting firms individually. Focus your search on Manhattan-based law firms and financial sector legal departments, as those employers file the highest volume of H-1B1 Chile Labor Condition Applications in the state.
Are there any New York-specific considerations for H-1B1 Chile legal sponsorship?
New York attorneys must be admitted to the New York State Bar, and for Chilean nationals this typically requires passing the New York bar examination or qualifying under its foreign legal consultant rules. Employers sponsoring H-1B1 Chile visa holders for attorney roles will generally require bar admission as a condition of employment. The high cost of living in New York City also influences prevailing wage determinations, which employers must meet or exceed under DOL requirements when filing an LCA.
What is the prevailing wage for H-1B1 Chile legal jobs in New York?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
