Which trucking companies sponsor H-2B visas in New York?
Regional carriers, third-party logistics providers, and freight distribution companies operating near major New York hubs have filed H-2B visa petitions for temporary trucking workers. Companies supporting port operations around the New York-New Jersey port complex, cold-chain distributors in the Hudson Valley, and seasonal agricultural haulers in upstate New York are among the employer types that have used the H-2B program. DOL Labor Condition Application disclosure data shows the specific employers and job titles on file.
Which cities in New York have the most trucking H-2B sponsorship jobs?
New York City and its surrounding metro area generate the highest concentration of H-2B trucking demand, driven by port freight, last-mile delivery, and wholesale distribution. Buffalo benefits from cross-border freight traffic with Canada, creating demand for temporary drivers during peak shipping periods. Albany and Syracuse serve as inland distribution points where seasonal volume spikes prompt H-2B filings. Smaller upstate markets tied to agriculture and manufacturing also see periodic demand.
What types of trucking roles typically qualify for H-2B sponsorship?
H-2B sponsorship in trucking typically covers heavy and tractor-trailer truck drivers, local delivery drivers, and driver-helpers when the employer can demonstrate a temporary, seasonal, peak-load, or intermittent need. The employer must show the positions are not permanent and that U.S. workers are unavailable to fill them. Roles requiring a Commercial Driver's License are common in New York H-2B filings. O*NET occupation profiles help define qualifying job duties for DOL certification purposes.
How do I find trucking H-2B sponsorship jobs in New York?
Migrate Mate lists verified trucking jobs with H-2B sponsorship in New York, drawing on DOL filing data to surface employers actively seeking temporary nonimmigrant workers in the state. You can filter by visa type, industry, and location to focus specifically on New York trucking roles. Reviewing employer H-2B petition history through OFLC Wage Search also helps confirm which carriers have filed for trucking positions in the past.
Are there state-specific considerations for H-2B trucking sponsorship in New York?
New York employers sponsoring H-2B trucking workers must comply with both federal DOL requirements and New York State labor law, including applicable wage protections and licensing rules. Drivers operating commercial vehicles in New York must hold a valid CDL meeting New York State DMV standards. The seasonal nature of port freight, construction logistics, and agricultural hauling in New York shapes when employers file H-2B petitions, typically timed to peak shipping seasons or infrastructure project cycles.
What is the prevailing wage for H-2B trucking jobs in New York?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
