Which companies sponsor visas for operations roles in New York?
Large employers with significant New York operations are the most consistent sponsors. Amazon, JPMorgan Chase, Citigroup, Pfizer, Deloitte, PwC, and McKinsey have strong track records of sponsoring international operations professionals. Manufacturing firms upstate, including in Buffalo and Rochester, also sponsor for supply chain and logistics roles, though at lower volumes than the New York City finance and consulting sectors.
Which visa types are most common for operations roles in New York?
The H-1B is the most common visa for operations roles that require a bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as business administration, industrial engineering, or supply chain management. The L-1B is used for intracompany transferees with specialized knowledge, which is relevant for multinational firms headquartered or with major offices in New York City. TN visas apply to Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying management or engineering operations roles.
Which cities in New York have the most operations sponsorship jobs?
New York City accounts for the overwhelming majority of operations sponsorship activity in the state, driven by its concentration of financial services firms, consulting companies, and corporate headquarters. Buffalo has a growing presence in manufacturing and logistics operations, supported by regional development investment. Albany sees demand for operations roles tied to government contracting and healthcare administration, though at smaller volumes than New York City.
How to find operations visa sponsorship jobs in New York?
Migrate Mate filters operations jobs in New York specifically to employers with a history of visa sponsorship, saving significant research time. You can browse roles by city, filter by operations function, and see sponsorship signals directly on each listing. For international candidates targeting New York's finance, consulting, or supply chain sectors, Migrate Mate's focused approach is more efficient than searching general job boards that don't surface sponsorship information clearly.
Are there state-specific considerations for operations visa sponsorship in New York?
New York City's high cost of living means prevailing wage requirements for H-1B operations roles are among the highest in the country, which can affect whether smaller employers choose to sponsor. The city's density of large multinational employers offsets this, as they have established immigration infrastructure and legal teams. Candidates with supply chain or industrial engineering backgrounds may find more sponsorship options upstate, where competition for international talent is lower.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored operations jobs in New York?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
