The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Position Summary

Advancing the science of sustainability is important and urgent, as challenges to sustaining evidence-based programs are pervasive in all public health and healthcare, for all settings and populations. This research seeks to bridge gaps in enhancing the long-term delivery of evidence-based public health programs in community settings. Specifically, the proposed mixed-methods study will inform understanding of what strategies and approaches are effective in enhancing the sustainability and impact of a nationally disseminated program focused on promoting cancer screening among communities and patients across the country. Additional projects will relate to both integration of health-related evidence-based practices into healthcare or community settings, or de-implementation of removal of programs found to no longer be effective or recommended. All research will be broadly related to advancing the field of implementation science, particularly as it relates to areas of sustainability and community.

The Program Coordinator will manage daily research and related administrative activities for several mixed-methods studies, focusing on applying community-based participatory research and implementation science to address cancer-related disparities. This position is based within the Department of Sociomedical Sciences at Mailman School of Public Health, Columbia University, working directly with Professor Rachel Shelton. Examples of currently funded grants are: 1) Strategies for Reaching and Impacting Our Communities Sustainably and 2) De-implementation of Overuse of Mammography Screening in Older Racially and Ethnically Diverse Women. The Program Coordinator participates in study implementation, engagement, and communication with study co-investigators, community partners/leadership, and community sites/study participants locally and nationally, helps track and manage intervention delivery, contributes to qualitative and quantitative data collection in collaboration with bio-statisticians and research assistants, oversees data management and analysis, contributes to reporting results/publishing manuscripts, and oversees and assists with research-related logistical tasks (e.g. Human Subjects approval, funder progress reports) necessary to accomplish the aims and needs of the above grants and other related projects. Additionally, there are opportunities to analyze data and contribute to manuscript writing for other implementation science studies and activities, as well as contribute to grant writing in the areas of implementation science.

Responsibilities

• Collect and record study data. Maintain databases, source documents (surveys, consent, interest forms) and other study-related files – 30%

• Perform data analysis, interpretation, and reporting of results (manuscripts, presentations, posters) – 20%

• Assist in communication with community sites and the recruitment/engagement of study participants and administration/tracking of surveys/other study instruments – 15%

• Prepare documents related to research activities, including study protocols and IRB submissions – 10%

• Prepare documents and assist with the grant, manuscript, conference abstract, and other submissions – 10%

• Assist with literature reviews, background research, and writing of grants and manuscripts – 5%

• Coordinate meetings, conference calls, and other logistical tasks – 5%

• Perform related duties & responsibilities as assigned/requested – 5%

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or equivalent in education and experience, plus three years of related experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• MPH (Master of Public Health) degree or Masters in related social/behavioral science

• Training or experience in research settings and community engagement

• Expertise in qualitative and quantitative, and/or mixed-methods research, including data collection, data management and data analysis.

• Software experience in SAS, SPSS, or R is preferred for quantitative analyses and qualitative software (N’Vivo, Dedoose).
