Which companies sponsor visas for project administrators in New York?
Large construction firms like Turner Construction and AECOM, financial institutions like JPMorgan Chase and Citigroup, healthcare systems like NewYork-Presbyterian and NYU Langone, and technology companies like IBM and Accenture have all sponsored project administrator roles in New York. Government contractors working on infrastructure projects in the state also represent a consistent source of sponsorship opportunities.
Which visa types are most common for project administrator roles in New York?
The H-1B visa is the most common visa for project administrator roles in New York, though it requires demonstrating that the position qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in a specific field. Some employers also sponsor L-1B visas for internal transfers and, less commonly, O-1 visas for candidates with exceptional qualifications. TN visa status is available to Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying management or engineering-adjacent roles.
Which cities in New York have the most project administrator sponsorship jobs?
New York City accounts for the large majority of project administrator sponsorship jobs in the state, driven by its concentration of financial services, construction, healthcare, and corporate headquarters. Buffalo has a growing presence in healthcare administration and infrastructure projects. Albany sees demand tied to state government contractors and public sector initiatives. Remote-friendly roles based in New York City sometimes allow candidates to work from other parts of the state.

Migrate Mate also provides context on which employers have a track record of sponsoring administrative and project management positions.
Are there any New York-specific considerations for project administrators seeking visa sponsorship?
New York's prevailing wage requirements apply to H-1B petitions, meaning employers must pay the higher of the actual or prevailing wage for the role in the specific metropolitan area, which in New York City is notably higher than in upstate regions. New York City's dense employer base means more competition for roles but also more employers actively filing Labor Condition Applications. Candidates with PMP certification or experience in regulated industries like finance or healthcare tend to see stronger sponsorship interest in this state.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored project administrator jobs in New York?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
