Which companies sponsor visas for project program managers in New York?
Large enterprises with significant New York presences are the most consistent sponsors for project program manager roles. Companies like JPMorgan Chase, Citigroup, Amazon, Google, IBM, Pfizer, and NBCUniversal have strong histories of H-1B sponsorship for program management positions. Consulting firms including Deloitte, Accenture, and McKinsey also regularly sponsor for client-facing program management roles across their New York offices.
Which visa types are most common for project program manager roles in New York?
The H-1B is the most common visa for project program managers in New York, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as business, engineering, or information systems. Candidates already on F-1 OPT or STEM OPT can work while an employer pursues sponsorship. L-1A and L-1B visas are also used when candidates transfer from a multinational employer's foreign office.
How to find project program manager visa sponsorship jobs in New York?
Migrate Mate filters project program manager roles specifically to employers with active visa sponsorship in New York, saving you from sifting through listings that don't support international candidates. You can browse current openings by role and state, making it straightforward to identify which New York employers are hiring for this position and have a demonstrated history of sponsoring work visas.
Which cities in New York have the most project program manager sponsorship jobs?
New York City accounts for the vast majority of project program manager sponsorship opportunities in the state, driven by its density of financial services firms, tech companies, media organizations, and consulting practices. Midtown Manhattan and Lower Manhattan are the primary hubs. Buffalo and Albany have a smaller but present market, mainly through healthcare systems, state government contractors, and manufacturing operations.
Are there any New York-specific considerations for project program managers seeking visa sponsorship?
New York City employers filing H-1B petitions must meet Department of Labor prevailing wage requirements for the specific metro area, which are calculated based on the New York-Newark-Jersey City wage zone and tend to reflect the city's higher cost of living. Project program managers with PMP certification or experience in regulated industries like finance or pharmaceuticals may find their profiles align well with New York employers who have established internal immigration support processes.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored project program manager jobs in New York?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
