Which companies sponsor visas for restaurant managers in New York?
Large hotel and hospitality groups with a significant presence in New York, including Marriott, Hilton, Hyatt, and Sodexo, are among the more consistent sponsors for restaurant manager roles. These employers have dedicated HR and legal teams experienced in navigating the sponsorship process. Independent fine dining groups occasionally sponsor as well, though less frequently than major hospitality chains.
Which visa types are most common for restaurant manager roles in New York?
The H-1B is the most common visa pathway for restaurant managers in New York, but it requires demonstrating the role qualifies as a specialty occupation, which typically means a bachelor's degree in hospitality management or a related field is standard for the position. The L-1A is another option for managers transferring within a multinational restaurant or hotel group. EB-3 immigrant visas are also used for permanent sponsorship in this industry.
Which cities in New York have the most restaurant manager sponsorship jobs?
New York City, particularly Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Queens, accounts for the overwhelming majority of restaurant manager sponsorship opportunities in the state. Midtown Manhattan concentrates hotel restaurant groups, while neighborhoods like Williamsburg and Long Island City have growing independent dining scenes. Albany and Buffalo have a smaller but active hospitality market, primarily driven by hotel chains and university-adjacent dining operations.
How to find restaurant manager visa sponsorship jobs in New York?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international candidates seeking visa sponsorship and filters restaurant manager roles in New York by employers with a documented history of sponsoring work visas. Rather than sorting through thousands of general listings, you can focus on positions where sponsorship is a realistic part of the hiring conversation. Filtering by New York and the restaurant manager category on Migrate Mate significantly narrows your search to relevant opportunities.
Are there any New York-specific considerations for restaurant manager visa sponsorship?
New York State has its own prevailing wage requirements that interact with federal Department of Labor standards, meaning sponsored restaurant managers must be paid at or above the certified wage for their specific region and role classification. New York City's high cost of living means prevailing wages in Manhattan are typically set higher than upstate regions. Candidates with degrees from hospitality programs at schools like Cornell's School of Hotel Administration may find their qualifications align well with specialty occupation requirements.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored restaurant manager jobs in New York?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
