Role Description
The Federal Information Security (Cybersecurity) Project Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in Brooklyn, NY. This position oversees federal information security projects from planning through implementation, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations, standards, and agency policies. Day-to-day responsibilities include coordinating project activities, managing timelines and deliverables, tracking risks and issues, and aligning cybersecurity initiatives with federal security frameworks and organizational objectives. The Project Manager works closely with technical teams, stakeholders, and vendors to define requirements, review security documentation, monitor system controls, and support continuous improvement of cybersecurity posture. The role also involves preparing status reports, facilitating meetings, and supporting audits and assessments to maintain high standards of information assurance and program performance.
Qualifications
- Strong analytical skills to assess risks, interpret data, and support informed decision-making in complex cybersecurity environments.
- Effective communication skills for engaging stakeholders, documenting requirements, preparing reports, and leading meetings across technical and non-technical audiences.
- Knowledge of information management practices, including data governance, records management, and secure handling of sensitive and classified information.
- Experience in information technology, including systems, networks, cloud environments, and integration of security controls within enterprise architectures.
- Proficiency in cybersecurity principles and frameworks (e.g., NIST, FISMA, RMF), including risk management, incident response, and security assessment and authorization.
- Demonstrated project management experience, preferably with federal or public-sector IT/security projects, including scope, schedule, budget, and stakeholder management.
- Relevant certifications such as PMP, CISSP, CISM, or Security+ are highly beneficial.
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
