Which companies sponsor visas for speech pathologists in New York?
Large health systems and public institutions are the most consistent sponsors. NYC Health + Hospitals, Northwell Health, NYU Langone, Montefiore Medical Center, and Mount Sinai Health System have all filed H-1B visa petitions for speech-language pathology roles. The New York City Department of Education is also a significant sponsor, hiring SLPs for school-based positions across all five boroughs. Rehabilitation networks and long-term care groups round out the employer pool.
Which visa types are most common for speech pathologist roles in New York?
The H-1B is the most common visa for speech pathologists in New York, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a master's degree in speech-language pathology. Some employers also sponsor EB-3 green cards directly, particularly large hospital systems with established immigration programs. SLPs with a Clinical Fellowship or full ASHA certification tend to attract stronger sponsorship consideration from New York employers.
How to find speech pathologist visa sponsorship jobs in New York?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship status, making it straightforward to browse speech pathologist openings in New York without sifting through roles that don't offer sponsorship. You can filter by city, employer type, and role to find positions at hospital systems, school districts, and rehabilitation centers across the state. Migrate Mate is built for international candidates navigating the U.S. job market.
Which cities in New York have the most speech pathologist sponsorship jobs?
New York City accounts for the large majority of sponsored SLP positions in the state, driven by its concentration of hospital systems, public schools, and outpatient clinics. Brooklyn and the Bronx see particularly high school-based demand through the NYC Department of Education. Buffalo has a secondary cluster anchored by Kaleida Health and Buffalo General Medical Center. Albany and Rochester offer additional openings through regional hospital networks and university medical centers.
Are there state-specific considerations for speech pathologists seeking sponsorship in New York?
New York requires SLPs to hold a state license from the New York State Education Department, separate from ASHA certification, which employers factor into their hiring and sponsorship timelines. International candidates often need to complete a credential evaluation to confirm their degree meets New York's educational requirements. School-based roles through the NYC Department of Education follow a distinct hiring calendar, with most openings posted between February and May for the following academic year.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored speech pathologist jobs in New York?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
