Which cybersecurity companies sponsor Green Card visas in North Carolina?
Large employers with established immigration programs include Cisco, IBM, Lenovo (headquartered in Research Triangle Park), Bank of America, and Wells Fargo in Charlotte. Defense contractors such as Leidos and SAIC operating near Fort Liberty also sponsor Green Cards for cybersecurity professionals. Larger enterprises tend to have dedicated HR and legal infrastructure to support the multi-year Green Card process more consistently than smaller firms.
Which cities in North Carolina have the most cybersecurity Green Card sponsorship jobs?
Raleigh and the broader Research Triangle Park area account for the highest concentration, anchored by major tech campuses and government-adjacent contractors. Charlotte follows closely, driven by its status as a major financial hub where banks and fintech firms invest heavily in security operations. Durham and Chapel Hill contribute through university-affiliated research institutions and the healthcare IT sector, particularly around Duke University Health System.
What types of cybersecurity roles typically qualify for Green Card sponsorship?
Roles that require a bachelor's degree or higher in a specific technical field are most commonly sponsored. In North Carolina, this typically includes security engineers, penetration testers, cloud security architects, threat intelligence analysts, and security operations center (SOC) leads. Positions tied to financial services compliance or defense contract requirements tend to attract sponsorship more consistently, as employers face stronger retention incentives for specialized talent in those sectors.
How do I find cybersecurity Green Card sponsorship jobs in North Carolina?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for this search. You can filter by visa type (Green Card), industry (cybersecurity), and state (North Carolina) to see verified sponsorship opportunities without sorting through employers who don't sponsor. This matters in cybersecurity because many postings don't explicitly state sponsorship availability, and Migrate Mate surfaces that information directly so you can focus your applications on employers who have sponsored before.
Are there state-specific considerations for Green Card sponsorship in North Carolina's cybersecurity sector?
North Carolina's defense and government contracting presence introduces a practical consideration: some cybersecurity roles require U.S. security clearances, which are generally not available to foreign nationals without permanent resident status. This means candidates still in the Green Card process may be excluded from certain positions. Focusing on commercial sector roles in financial services, healthcare IT, or enterprise technology tends to offer a clearer path for candidates currently on nonimmigrant visas.
What is the prevailing wage for Green Card cybersecurity jobs in North Carolina?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
